You have people this time of year fishing classified ads everywhere. It is a new way to pick pocket victims. It's a cowardly way to mug you.

Also be careful opening random links in texts or emails. You could get an auto download from a hacker that wants your bank and credit card info.

Tis the season for theft.

The scammers using screen names from here may or may not be a mrmber. It could just be a lurker that is crawling forum classified ads.

I'm trying to think of a way to put together a nice little sting to snag and trap the person, or people preying on SVTP members.

If I catch you, and you're using my identity, I will press every charge applicable.

If anyone is contacted with something that has my name or screen name attached, contact me via PM. I do not have anything up for sale, and I will intervene and chase that person down.

Cant emphasize this enough: STOP POSTING YOUR PERSONAL PHONE NUMBERS OUT IN THE OPEN.

Its a one way ticket to getting scammed.

Use forum PMs and paypal only. If its a local meet up, STILL use Pm's and paypal Goods and services. Only go to text messages or phone calls once you're payment is sent or received.

Also, if youre inquiring about something for sale, stop asking seller's to text YOU. If its a forum for sale ad, YOU contact the seller via PM and go form there.

This is a stupid idea but,

Any chance you've googled that photo of the tail lights? If he actually took that photo and didn't rip it off the internet (that we know of), you could try and see if the exif data shows coordinates of where the photo was taken and get an address from there.

Just a thought.

It's likely those taillight photos were grabbed from Google.

Yeah, he's probably too slick to have taken a photo to connect it to himself. And he likely doesn't have it to sell. Unless he's trying to see the same item to multiple buyers. Much easier and "safer" for a scammer to use Google to find a photo to use. We can only hope that he slips up/has slipped up, and will get nabbed.

This is the person listed at that address. Doubt this is really the scammers address though. Confused why they would give you their address, if you weren’t shipping anything to him? I’ll PM you phone numbers for this individual if you need them.

Thanks! I asked for his address just to add to his credentials , however I never had him message me on the forum. He had such good knowledge of the ops build I Really thought it was him. The numbers would be good thanks.

Wow. This is a new low, quite the effort put forth by this scumbag. This guy along with all thieves need to be shot.

I believe in karma but an ass kicking would better fit this bill.

Do you need a special program to find all the info out from just a photo?
