Exhaust Tips stick out too far after Long Tube install

I have American Racing 1-7/8'' Long tubes with AR O/R H pipe feeding into stock mufflers. I tried to adjust from both the collector and mid pipe. Midpipe doesnt want to move up the collector any farther and the midipe to rear exhaust is touching metal to metal, no room for any adjustment.

Just wondering if any of you have had the same issue and if so, what was your solution.

Only thing I can see is cutting 1'' off the midpipe.

The shop I use Power by the Hour says the exhaust needs to be trimmed for it to sit flush.

I had the same issue with my Stainless Works headers. Trimmed a half inch off the back of the midpipe and all was well.

Same headers as you, had to trim backside of trim pipe...

I had the same issue with Kooks, a little trimming of the mid pipe did the trick.

Same thing, trimmed mid pipe. Stock muffs still stuck out a little, but after switching to the Super Snakes, they sit flush.
