The begging in Nassau was awful. I noticed that there were more trashy people on the cruise than before. My wife and I were trying to enjoy our dinner in the nice dining room and, a person at the table behind us was on the phone yelling and cursing for about five minutes straight. I’m guessing they paid extra for ship WiFi so they could just curse at each other. Also, the amount of extremely large people wearing inappropriately small clothing was mind-blowing.

Yea, had those types of experiences on carnival cruise ships.
That or gangs of teens harassing others.
Either have gotten lucky and missed those theatrics on Royal or those people don't use RC.

The longest cruise I was on was a 12 day from NJ to Caribbean and back on the Quantum lineup.
Got bored day 8 or so, and cracked on the wifi.
But the ship itself and the people were nice.

Had zero schedule. Just did what we wanted when we wanted on the ship.

I’ve been on two and love them. I really didn’t care about getting off at the ports of call. My favorite part is sitting at the rear of the ship at night with a drink. But I would recommend the higher end cruise lines. Carnival is known for riff raff which detracts from the experience.

Never been, but have heard that it's like wandering an airport terminal during a week long layover.

Hahah. I’ve never thought of it that way.

The main pool always had a bunch of fat people sitting on the side swinging their feet in the water staring at the two or three people swimming. I couldn’t get past the amount of fat feet, so I never got in. The rear of the ship had adult only hot tubs that were always full of people.

The thing that gets me the most is the additional money you could potentially spend. Parking is just over $100. You pay for any excursions at the ports. They had two jewelry stores, a big casino, massage spa, gift shop and liquor store on board. They have a camera crew that takes a lot of pictures and you can purchase them. They only have water, tea, lemonade and nasty coffee available onboard. If you want soda they have a drink package for that. If you want decent coffees they have a coffee shop that charges like it’s Starbucks. If you have any addiction, they have you covered. And you get a card from them that links right to your credit card so it doesn’t even have the burn that spending usually has. I really wanted the Cheers alcoholic beverage package. For $51.00 a day plus gratuity you get up to 15 alcoholic drinks. But I found out that my wife and I would both have to get it because we were in the same room and she doesn’t drink. Drinks ranged from $7 for a beer up to $10 for a mixed drink. I could definitely see a younger person loosing their backside trying to impress their girl. The last morning they slipped a paper under the door that had all of the things you purchased on it. Mine had a $60 charge that was wrongfully placed on it. I had to wait in a hellaciously long line that morning to contest the charge and it ended up messing up my breakfast. I think the next time I’m pushed to go on a cruise I’ll be looking at the all inclusive resorts instead.

lol only time I ever hear anything about these cruise ships is when large numbers of people get sick on them, someone gets tossed off/falls overboard, or they sink hard pass for me, and I hear all you do is eat, my ass is already fat enough

Me and the wife do the Monsters of Rock cruise. It’s a cruise full of 80s rock bands. Lynch Mob, Y&T, Tesla, Winger, Firehouse, Slaughter, you name it. We just booked for the next one which is in Feb 2020. Y’all ought to check it out....one big party. Www.monstersofrockcruise.com

Oh and the rock stars are walking around mingling with everyone, really cool.

Carnival is the booze cruise trash line, that is the first problem.

In my experience the smaller boats are the ones to go on if you don't want to deal with a shit ton of people. The biggest boat I've been on was the Oasis of the seas which at the time I believe held 3000+ people?

Celebrity Cruises (owned by RC) is a notch above RC, better food, better service, level of trashy people kept to a minimum, boats aren't floating cities. Azamara (went on 1, no complaints) is the top tier company owned by RC, one above Celebrity. They have smaller boats and I believe focus on Europe.

The very last one I went on was the Celebrity Summit, only because my parents booked the penthouse and I figured if I didn't go, I'd never get to try a penthouse suite on a ship ever again. Slept on the fold out couch, room was stupid large.

I have a reminder of that trip for the rest of my life, one morning eating breakfast I noticed a front tooth got chipped. No idea how it happened but I will forever live with a half fake tooth haha.

Now that penthouse suite would change my opinion about cruises. LOL. That is HUGE! In that last photo, is that area exclusively for your penthouse suite?

People book trashy cruises and then wonder why they have a trashy experience lol.

If you're going to cruise, it has to be on a high end cruise line. Otherwise, you'll get all the negative experiences listed in here. Nothing can change the fact that the boat is on a schedule. But, the rest of your experience will be totally different on the right cruise line.

I like cruises for the simple reason that they force you to relax. There are things to do everyday and you don't really have to think about too much. Alcohol is readily available too and no worrying about driving or finding a cab.

I love them. I just got back from a 5 night Royal Caribbean cruise... there's no way you can get a hotel and food, plus all the activities, for 6 days/5 nights for the price of a cruise. I like going to all the shows- comedy, performing arts, game shows, etc; as well as excursions at the ports/destination. Then at dinner I order at least an appetizer, two main dishes, and dessert. For this past cruise, I brought my own alcohol in these clear pouches you can buy at Total Wine or on Amazon, so there's tons of money saved right there.

They are what you make of them. If you sit in your room the whole time or just wander around the ship, then it would be miserable. If you grab the cruise itinerary and pack your day with plans, you'll have an awesome time.

Yeah Bob, that deck shot was our own private deck at the back of the boat. It had a jacuzzi out there as well. The Summit only had 2 penthouses so, speaking in car terms, we were on the passenger side of the ship, the other penthouse had the drivers side and our deck was split in the middle.

From what I understand, newer ships don't have penthouses this large, I don't know exactly how big they are compared to what we had but my father always describes this room as "excessive and stupid" when it comes to size. It had a self playing grand piano if that says anything.

The room also came with a butler, so every morning when we got room service he'd deliver it, and my parents had friends on the boat at the same time so one night we invited them over for dinner and the butler brought our dinner up here. We also got access to all the higher end restaurants (as well as the Michaels club which used to be a cigar lounge ordeal) all included.

We also got to meet the Captain (whom my parents had met once before, on a prior cruise I wasn't on, they had a passenger fall ill and my father donated blood as he's O negative, so the Captain came to meet him) and the Captain invited us up on a bridge tour with a small group of people. That was cool to see as I was invited to one of those on another cruise a while back but missed out because we had an excursion booked at the same time.

I've been on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Azamara. The level of customer service as well as the quality of the services offered is one thing. Food of course is another. The Celebrity/Azamara stuff is going to be a tier above RC but overall I never had a "bad" cruise.

RC also owns a private island somewhere in the Caribbean (I forget where exactly, this was a long time ago I went) and I don't know how many other cruise lines have something like that. I think NCL might.

I have friends who have gone on multiple NCL cruises and have enjoyed them, I haven't been on one so I can't speak to them myself.

I have never done a cruise. Some people love them, others not. We go to a Sandals almost every year and it’s awesome! No surprise bill at the end and everything but the spa, tours and butlers are NO tipping and no extra charges. You want a zip line tour? Cool yes that’s extra and tips can be expected, have a butler there is a standard tip of 20-25 a day each, spa is extra and they accept tips. They are not the cheapest all-inclusive however they have no surprises and the experience is awesome!

We've done a few cruises, mainly to visit islands/destinations to see if we would want to stay there for an all-inclusive. St. Maarten definitely made that list.

I really don't see how you can get forced into an itinerary other than when you can get off the ship, I did what I wanted, when I wanted.

We are going to plan another cruise in the next couple years when our daughter is a little older.
