Yeah they came in pretty hot, there is audio of them telling fire and rescue to stay away from landing gear and to watch for fires.The cowling was loose, they had full spoilers on as the flaps are definitely not "down 40" in landing configuration. IIRC the pilots were hesitant to use the flaps as one took a hit on takeoff as the initial piece of cowling ripped off and they didn't want to try and extend the flaps or slats and perhaps get in a situation where it would upset the aircraft so they came in hot.
Looks like once they hit the thrust reversers is when the remaining cowling was ripped away.
