Now that I have time to type I'll give my opinion. And most of it is just that, opinion.
For starters as a former drag racer I believe running 2000HP or 7-8 and even 9 second cars on the street is just dumb. Think "street outlaws" here.
For years we bitched if the track didn't hook and now all of a sudden you want to street race? (Of course I've seen some good street prep also.) lol
No prep events? WTF?
Second, if you build one of these cars and run it to its potential even remotely often without a cage that is just as dumb.
Guys like Jeff ran these events several times a year. Every time you do your risk for something happening goes up.
I've been 170ish in a street car with no cage once and even that was stupid thinking back on it.
Going to this event, I have my opinions on the event host. I've come across his post and I see him as nothing but someone who wants to make $$$.
Even posting here, I almost deleted his events because that's all he does is spam his events. He takes no time to correspond, post or talk to anyone here.
When Wannagofast posted about the New Orleans event I couldn't help but cringe. Don't get me wrong, NOLA Motorsports park is a pretty nice facility for what it is and where it is located but it isn't world class and surely not set up for an event like this. I knew that it isn't that wide to run cars side by side and the track condition was not good for this type of event.
I will say that running this type of event EVERYONE should have walked that track and maybe even drove a slow pass to feel the track.
Someone made the comment about Drag Racers walking the track. That is the difference in a sanctioned track/event and some fly by night BS operation that just blindly rents a track to host a event.
We know and trust that the track is cared for.
I also have a problem with a business like WGF putting safety on his front page and in the same paragraph state that the event created to pursue your need for speed "Without the restrictions of ...........
Just kind of ironic.
As I said, I really have no issue with someone wanting to risk his own ass but no one should get sued because of it.
