Great singer, I've had the luck of seeing him live a few times. My avatar is a crop from a picture I took at a Soundgarden concert. I met him in Miami before a New Year's eve show with Guns and Roses. Seemed like a pretty cool guy. Rip, there'll be a lot less music for me to listen to now.

After Sound Garden, he had that hiatus for a few years. Turns out his voice became strained from the copious amounts of blow and shit he was doing. He got clean, got his wife back, worked it out and rested.

Then he came back and killed it with Audioslave and the rest is history.

Now he's gone. I am very sad

Damn, one of the most distinctive voices of my generation. Sucks I only got to see him live once. He and Chester from LP did a duet of "Crawling" that was better than the original.

Old school soundgarden was good stuff. After that, his voice went to hell. Regardless, it's sad to hear.
