Over winter I did stage 2 patriot ported heads and comp 270ah cams. I get a puff of oil smoke at start up and my oil catch can gets full every 40 or 50 miles. Noticed oil on nipple to intake plenum pcv side hose also. Runs fine other than that no no misfires or codes besides evap purge circuit code. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Just replaced pcv with motorcraft one also, same thing.

That's crazy so Wtf? Can I just run breathers and delete pcv to keep oil out of the intake at least until I can trace it down. Compression is probably good cuz this sucker pulls harder than ever, no miss fires or noises. Oils being burned through intake plenum! If so where can I find breathers.... having trouble finding a screw in type to fit my trick flow driver side valve cover. These heads don't even have 200 miles on them!

So what would be the best way to keep oil out of intake plenum then? Try a upr can I stead of the jlt? What about putting a screen over pcv and then putting it in valve cover? This is really irritating.

You buy those TF valve covers used?

I also have heavy oil consumption and the root cause is my TF valve covers because they are their older version with a tiny baffle. I don't even think their larger baffle design will help with excessive oil blowby in the PCV system. I have a breather tank and it collects about 1/4 cup after 80 mile round-trip to my job and back home.

Edit: I'll add that my PCV system is deleted. I have both valve covers running into a breather tank and the passenger side valve cover is the leaky bastard and ironically TFS sells a baffle upgrade kit!

Other noted issue on those covers is inadequate oil deflection causing other lube problems.

I'd dump em and go stock.

Anything that gets lubed inside cover

Keep those covers on and you will experience issues first hand mark my words.

The full oil catch is just one.

I understand. You know if this still holds true with the 2012 or 2013 revised TFS valve covers?

I think those are one of the years for their latest revised drawing of the valve covers.

I bought my valve covers new from trick flow in spring of 2014. So with all the trick flow valve cover issues being said, would I be better off deleting pcv and putting breathers on? I do not want oil getting into my intake plenum anymore. Its burning up a lot of oil and I just got New ported heads I don't want them all gummed up, problem with running breathers though the drivers side valve cover(non pcv side) has a oil fill cap and the tube that goes from cover to cold ait intake that's a screw in. Where can I find a screw in breather for that side? It would be cheap and worth a shot. I drive car like 2 times a week or 3 not daily. Thanks guys.

The driverside valve cover is NPT thread either 1/2" or 3/8".

Not sure what else could go wrong. Waiting for further information from Wheelstander. Since you have a later version of these covers it doesn't sound promising that your issues will go away with breathers.

Worth a shot for at most 25 bucks for breathers though imo. Would keep oil out of intake and less oil burning. Would sacrifice a little oil in engine bay rather then all in my intake plenum.

I would have to do some digging but there but those are the years I saw the threads on various forums, not sure about revisions on the valve covers.

on my phone but this might have been one...

Lol, I posted in that thread. There have been a few discussions about these covers. I just haven't done much about it. Since those dates I have only added 800 miles to my car.

Sorry but I call bs on this one. Nothing in a ford ohc engine is lubed via oil deflection off the valve covers. If that were the case then you would see it in the design of the covers. The valve train is lubed via oil pressure not oil wicking off of a deflector.
