I have been eager to see how Cadillac's new ATS would actually compare to the 3series since there has been so much hype built up. So here are two of the first drive reviews on the ATS.

Nice looking car. Where does it fit in with the CTS, or is it being phased out?

I think a v6 awd model would make a hell of a DD, and a nice option below a CTS-V.

The ATS is one model below the CTS, the ATS is competitors to the 3 series, A4, C Class ect. and the CTS is competitors the the 5 series ect.

I was very shocked with the reviews given by C&D and MT. It seems Cadillac played their cards right with this one. My dad has always driven Cadillacs and he is looking to get an XTS. We went and test drove one and I drove it myself, I loved everything about the XTS, but it was very underpowered. They put the same 3.6 V6 out of a ATS and CTS in the XTS. That doesn't make sense to me. Oh well.

The Camaro will also be based on the Alpha platform. I have to say I am surprised that the ATS is being compared favorably with the 3 series in the press.

The ATS looks as tho GM has done the need development on this car. It's to bad that Lincoln is not going in the same direction.

it's tough to beat the quality, feel, and power of my '09 335i,...but looks like Cadillac is headed in the right direction...they should have turboed the V6 though :)

Looks like a winner. The coupe and V versions should be sweet. The next gen 'maro should be interesting too.

No matter what the magazines say about the ATS or any Caddy it is still a GM product, which means junk. I got rid of a 05 CTS in March with 89000 miles and it was eating oil. I will not buy another GM product again. It might be a nice car but i can't see it as being as good a quality product as a BMW etc.

Not all GM vehicles are junk. I've had my '11 Buick LaCrosse (V6) for 2 years and absolutely love it. Quality is exceptional. Ultra quiet. Nice luxury. The only nit is the suspension is a bit soft. But that's because I didn't opt for the sport suspension. I'm very satisfied overall, though.

I think GM is going to have a winner with this new Caddy. We'll just have to wait and see how well it competes with the others in this segment.
