Depending on how many show up I might have to plan a BBQ at my house.

Hell yeah! That would be awesome Bob! Even if it is just you, me and @Daywalker we should have a BBQ. And if others can make it that would just be a bonus (y).

This is great thinking my reveal could become an SVTP event..... SWEET!

Back in 2002 or 2003, I went to Bristol for a Nascar race. I met up with a group of maybe 8 Nascar diecast forum folks. We had a blast at the race, and even more fun at a barbeque after the race. Bear in mind that we're talking rural hill folks. Let's just say it was interesting, lots of laughs, and a night I won't forget. They did/do know how to do a barbeque and have fun. LOL.

Okay Everyone,

This weekend should be a huge weekend for me. Radiator cover should be cut and buffed and fenders should be going on for good.

I couldn't wait, so after work today I got started with the radiator cover. It came out badass.

This is after 1000 and 2000 grit wet by hand. Got out the orange peel and got the clear flat.

This is after 1000 and 3000 grit dry with a DA and finished off with 8000 grit wet with a DA. It already has a nice sheen to it. This should polish out very nice.

I got half of it done with stage 1 and 2 polish. You can see the difference between the 2 sides.

Then I finished polishing it up. The sun was still out so I tried to take a couple outside with the sun. Not great outside photos, but you get the idea.

I like this photo with the sun hitting it directly.

Sun is not hitting it directly, but the sun is definitely showing off that Laser Red. Man, the car should look amazing once I get it outside.

Then I took it back into the garage and took some close up shots to show off the reflection.

Then once it was done I decided I would install it. Took me a little while to install it in order to make sure I didn't scratch anything.

By the time I got done the sun was down so I needed to use the flash. I'll take some better ones later this weekend, but wanted to share these.

I really like how this came out. VERY happy my fabricator built this for me.

This is my favorite shot. Love the way the flash lights up the engine bay and reflects off the firewall. The pearl in the Laser Red really pops in this picture. I really like the Ringbrother's hardware too. It's going to look badass when the fenders are on and the grill cover is installed and they all have the Ringbrother's hardware installed.

Okay Everyone,

You know how it goes when you modify things. I posted pictures last night and someone on the classic site pointed out that the upper radiator tube was rubbing the radiator cover. I did notice this, but I wasn't going for final installation. I just got a little over zealous and put the radiator cover in place LOL.

So, today I got things taken care of.

Here is the picture from last night. You can clearly see the parts are touching. Now, I did try to loosen the radiator cover and see if I could slide the radiator over just a bit. However, with those tubes in place (upper and lower) that radiator is not moving left or right at all LOL.
20220311_182506.jpg

So, I removed the radiator cover and got to work. My fabricator had the tools to make this notch look professional. So, first it sucked I had to cut into fresh paint and second it sucked I had to do this by hand. Oh well, this is a garage build, right? LOL.
20220312_100816.jpg

Got my Dremel out and started to cut and grind. It's not as nice as the original, but I went for function, not form, here.
20220312_101946.jpg

It really didn't come out that bad. I'm just happy the paint didn't get messed up. Besides, once the upper radiator tube goes through here it really won't be that noticeable. And if someone has nothing better to do than look for flaws in this build then they need to get a life LMAO.
20220312_104700.jpg

Here it is back in the car. Yes, the picture magnifies the shape, but when you are generally looking over the areas you really don't notice this.
20220312_111317.jpg

Here you can see there is now plenty of clearance all around the upper radiator tube. I do not think this area will move or flex too much, but better safe than sorry.

Okay,

After I got the radiator cover fixed, I permanently mounted it in place using all the hardware. So, that cover is not coming out unless I need to fix something.

Again, on the classic site someone has been asking for me to take some pictures with the fender on the car with the hood in place.

I am mounting the fenders on the car this weekend anyway, so I thought, what the hell. Why not??? LOL.

Okay, I put the fender up there and just used 2 bolts in the engine bay to hold it in place. This is purely for visual reference.

20220312_114944.jpg

There is no bolt in the bottom. So, the fender is sticking out past the door just a little.
20220312_114802.jpg

Man, I love to see the sun reflecting off this color.
20220312_114930.jpg

Look at that gap. This really makes me proud as it shows I got the inner structure welded in the right place and my measurements were on target.
20220312_114833.jpg

This is another proud point for me. My hood pin mounting location lines up perfectly with the previous holes in the hood.
20220312_114842.jpg

Just a couple with the hood up and the fender in place. I think this shot looks cool.
20220312_115124.jpg

Here you can see the fender is not fully in place.

Okay,

After my photoshoot was over LOL, I got to work removing the hood and mounting the fenders for the last time.

The first thing I did was install my rear splash shields. I don't ever plan on driving in the rain, but it's always a possibility when taking it to car shows. So, these had to go on.
20220312_125942.jpg

Then I installed the gas shocks on the hood hinges.
20220312_125958.jpg

I didn't take during pictures. I was worried about scratching something. So, here are the fenders in place. Man, it's starting to look like something again LOL.

Here are some miscellaneous pictures.

Got my radiator cap polished. Looks like a mirror. SWEET!!!
20220312_145955.jpg

I love that Ringbrother's hardware. It's cool I was able to get all the same hardware for inside the engine bay.
20220312_150023.jpg

20220312_150048.jpg

Got my hood put back on the panel holder. I'll probably start the cutting and buffing process tomorrow.
20220312_150102.jpg

Love this graphic. And it's cool it lines up with the door. Yes, the bottom bolt and all hardware for the fenders are installed LOL.

And lastly, here are some overall shots.

Man, since I have been working on other pieces such as the hood, grill pieces, headlight pieces and working on other things I really forgot how badass this car really is.

Please understand I do not say that to be cocky, but I truly feel proud of what I have been able to accomplish over the last 22 months.

It's all starting to come together (My wife said her car is starting to look good LMAO). Can't wait to get this tuned and final assembly completed. Seriously close now.

It just keeps getting better and better everytime I look at your thread. Im going to have to come up with some other adjectives besides awesome, fantastic, excellent or outstanding because they've all already been said.

Thank you very much Grabber! I'm good with all those adjectives my friend and I greatly appreciate you using them (y) . I use badass a lot to describe how something turned out on this build. Think I'll stay the course LMAO!!!
