Figured you guys would dig that, I have been looking for those for a while.

"AP Racing Porn"

I get to see the nice big chunky calipers on the Porsches I work. I would really like to have something similar on my car. They are so pretty, yet menacing all at the same time.

Side note: you know you've lost it when you think a set of calipers are porn

the wilwood road race kit uses the 12.9" rotor blank, but it can use the thick polymatrix j pad along with the 1.25" two piece rotor

plus the caliper has the two piece pistons (thermlock or whatever they call it)

I was looking at those too. Thanks for pointing them out again. I'm going to pay extra attention this coming weekend at Mosport to see what the World Challenge cars are running. I seem to remember most of the leaders using the Stoptech stuff, but there were a few Wilwood cars out there and AP racing here and there.

no alcon kits? the alcon grand-am cup kit seems to have the pads with the most surface area. along with a 1.25" thick two piece rotor.

I was going to mention them and forgot.

I'm sure many teams run them, but I can't recally in my head at the moment. I'll see what the cars are running at Mosport.

I payed a little extra attention today to all the Speed World Challenge cars. I would say close to 90% of the non-Porsche cars were running Stoptechs. There was on odd Wilwood car, but it wasn't doing much in terms of lap times.

Basically, the consensus here is that the Wilwood calipers are junk compared to the likes of AP Racing, Stoptech, Brembo, and Alcon. That is not just my personal opinion, but those of people who have been racing for more years than I've been alive.

Well, apparently I lied about how many cars run Stoptech brakes. Basically, all the Corvettes run Stoptechs except for one team with a set from AP Racing. 90% of the Porsches run the factory Cup car calipers which I believe are Brembos. Other cars have Brembo race calipers too. I didn't see any Wilwoods though, as I believe the sole Vette team switched over to Brembo race calipers.

My point of all this is that the Stoptech calipers used on the Z06's do very well and are the same ones used in their street car kits. A Brembo or AP Racing caliper can cost much, much more...to the tune of $1000 to $5000 per caliper. Additionally, from what I've been told, the Stoptechs are very similar to the big Brembos (the Cobra R calipers are small Brembos).

Oh...I'm still trying to find out more information about ABS systems from those in the know...particularly the PTG BMW team since they are allowed to run it on their M3's.
