I remember one time I drove my sister's blue ford focus all night to Atlanta from NC to pick up some mustang parts at 7am. When I was heading home on the Interstate I was flying when I saw a GA state HWY patrol with a radar gun in hand. He smiled when he looked down to check the speed. I WAS FLYING!! There was a ton of traffic on the road... like 4 or 5 lanes wide. I used my signal and began pulling to the far right lane to get on the shoulder a get the @$$ rape of a ticket I was about to receive. I could see the trooper in my rear view as I was in the right lane. A few seconds later I see him pass by me and lo-behold he pulled another car.... a blue ford focus. I used cruise the rest of the trip.

that sucks. I just went up to Bryson City, NC 2 weeks ago(took the Infiniti) and on the way up to NC and back to Tampa the cops were hitting my radar every 10 miles between Valdosta and Tifton. In Tifton on the way back I actually got hit with "instant laser" which you can't slow down fast enough to avoid that one. I have a Escort Redline and it works great, but you still have to use common sense with it. NOT hard to hit triple digits with the Cobra.....lots of restraint needed!!! lol:cuss:

Two suggestions, leave for work earlier, and put a sizeable rock under the gas pedal during the work week.

I'm dead serious about leaving for work earlier. I did it for years, in fact I got stopped once for doing 53 in a 65 going to work one morning. The cop asked me where I was going, I said work, he said why are you driving so slow, my reply, I'm in no hurry to get there. And no, I didn't get a ticket, but everybody I worked with passed while I was being questioned. When I got to the dealership they asked me what was up with the cop, we know it wasn't for speeding, so I told them, they all laughed their asses off.

It doesn't take much at all to get these cars into the 60-80 mph area. So you have to be disciplined to simply not speed, and drive defensively and safely. All the time if possible. Hopefully this was a good lesson learned, and you'll benefit from the ticket in the long run. I think you have your head on right and just made the mistake of rushing/speeding because you were running late. We've all done it at some time or another.

Like everyone says , restraint and common sense are a big deal with these ( or any ) fast car . You just have to be super careful and really pick your spots IF you want to do some " SPIRITED " driving . Everybody on this site knows how close they have come to getting or not getting a really huge ticket or a licence suspension

There's no bulletproof method to avoiding tickets in these cars. Even with a radar detector, tips from an 'insider' on when cops are changing shifts or where a trap is going to be today...you'll still get pinched by the unmarked car that you never see coming from behind. Best thing you can do is get to know your routes that you travel most and eventually you'll feel more confident 'playing' on those roads. This is without question the most difficult car, to show restraint in, that I've ever owned.

I got lucky a few times this summer. Never pulled over for speeding and just once for letting the tires break loose. "Youre 28? You should know better!"
Got off with a warning. Haha

Now I know this will sound impossible in a terminator, but you just can't be the fastest car on the road. Always use a "guinea pig" and watch for mass brake light activation.

Also, do you get a special super speeder card to show your friends? Maybe a stamp on your license? Would be a cool little keepsake to remember the event.:D

He got pulled over, didn't hit a tree. He's got a long way to go to reach my level of douchebaggery apparently. I can't even count the amount of times I've been double the speed limit. Practically a pedestrian killing machine. It's a wonder I haven't mowed over a democratic convention of people. AKA bus stop.

Yeah, these cars do attract attention! Heck, one time I was actually PARKED and a local cop left his spot across the street where is was watching for speeders and drove over to me. Not to give me a ticket. Just to tell me I had a hot looking Cobra. Turns out he used to work for a local speed shop that I frequented when I had my old Camaro. LOL!

Damn shame you didn't just drop dead when you crashed the bike.

I love using the power on the cars that I've had but theres a time and a place man. That's how you avoid speeding tickets. Going 80 in a 35? I hope there were no little kids running around that you put in danger...
