If in doubt, get one of each. Coupe for Saturdays, convertible for Sundays. Problem solved.
Thank you sir! It has changed quite a bit since I did my signature picture. I’ve added a couple of lifts and more cars. My Terminator vert has been on the lift for over a year... time to get it down and fire it up. With 502 miles, it’s not a driver.damn if you don't have one of the coolest garages on this site Goose.
And yes, look at the value of a 60s gt500 convertible vs a coupe...
What's important to look at with regards to 60s/70s pricing is.....where was that pricing 17 years out. Say late 80s. Were verts bringing more than coupes? Just like the classic muscle car.....when new, verts stickered for more money msrp. Same with the terminator.
What's odd is the fact terminator coupes have not only made up that original msrp difference from a vert.....but have surpassed it in value 17 years down the road. Did the 60s/70s muscle car demonstrate that same pricing trend late 80s? Is the terminator somehow unique in how the pricing is reflected today? The terminator coupe could just break the mold.

Maybe a good benchmark would be a modern classic like the Fox body. Im curious how coupes fair vs verts? Don’t coupes command more money?
Historic sales of older gen cars that were built with the same principle would counter your position. Have a look at 60s/70s muscle car sales.

I am an eBay junkie and I have some collectors/sellers that send me pics since they know I’m an easy target.
After reading through the responses there is a lot of good comments, goose nailed it on everything he says. There are pros and cons to a convertible,1, they leak. 2, heavier by 300ish lbs I think. 3, louder. 4 the wet noodle comment best describes a stock vert. On the positive side they are FUN!
