kool gonna watch tomorrow
Let us know what you think, Brett. The cat and mouse dueling between the Greyhound and the Wolf Pack was tense in a good way. Especially when the Greyhound was almost out of depth charges the the lead German sub commander kept taunting the Americans that they would all die. I'll probably watch it again next week while I'm on vacation.

It was okay, some good action, not too much story. Definitely not saving private ryan. Plus all the black characters were essentially servants only bring food up to the capt. so I'm triggered AF.

I signed up for Apple TV+ to check this out and see what was on it. Answer, nothing they have like 15 things. Am I doing this wrong? Sure isnt Netflix. Started watching "The Morming Show" great cast, not really my thing. Fun to watch Steve Carell lose his mind though. Seems like a crappy version of "The Newsroom".

Because of the limits of technology they were basically boats that could submerge. That's why the bow design is for running on the surface and not teardrop like a modern nuclear sub that can run underwater indefinitely.

Because speed and range were severely limited underwater while running on battery power, U-boats were required to spend most of their time surfaced running on diesel engines, diving only when attacked or for rare daytime torpedo strikes. The more ship-like hull design reflects the fact that these were primarily surface vessels that could submerge when necessary.

Spot on.

So we captured one during the war. It now resides underground at the Museum of Science And Industry in Chicago. The Captain that set up the team to capture one was from Chicago so they brought it there in his honor. Must see exhibit if you are ever in Chicago.

U-505 thing I hate is the cutting up the hull and make doorways in order to put the walk ways through it, is my only disappointment when it comes to U-505.

But you have to also look at any WW II era US Navy sub/ museum and compare just how much better the US was at designing, building, and equipping subs compared with the Germans it sort of like comparing a 1987 Yugo to a similar 1987 Fleetwood Caddy. The USS Cod that resides in Cleveland had things, an actual dining area, ice cream making machine and surface and air radar things the U-505 didn't have when captured in 1944. The Allies was so glad when they done operation Overlord as it made this capture disappeared and so was forgotten about. In fact the Germans thought that the Sub either had an accident or was attacked and sunk by the Allies clear up until a year after the war when the truth was finally revealed to the Germans.

AppleTV is not worth signing up for. I got it free when I bought my AppleTV devise. Their content is very limited. In no way does it compare to Netflix.

To be historically accurate, there would only be blacks on board to serve the officers mess and galley. Wasn't until the 50's that the services were integrated.

Yeah started a 7 day trial just to watch Greyhound. Dont plan on keeping it.

I get that, its accurate, was commenting on that being a risky move in this climate. Accurate doesnt mean correct these days.

I understand, the new left would have Denzel Washington as the Captain.

I want to see it, but tom hanks is a liberal douchebag that’s taken a few trips to Epstein’s island on the Lolita express ...so I will pass
Yea, after hearing about that unimportant D bag nonstop for the past 3 months and his BS coronavirus stories, i have to say i'm pretty turned off of anything related to Tom Hanks now...

That goes for pretty much all of Hollywood too. Anyone associated with mainstream liberal Hollywood can eat a giant bag of horse shit. They are not important people, and for the most part highly uneducated. The loud outspoken ones like DeNiro and DiCaprio are highschool dropouts.

I almost watched it (love the movie concept), but for reasons noted above I can't watch TH anymore. Plus, Apple+ =$5.00 a month and I already am subscribed to too much.

I did watch "The Old Guard" on NetFlix. Ahhhhhh, I tuned in for crazy Charlize Theron (who is starting to look old), because I knew she was supposed to be some uber warrior and I can buy into that (cuz she is a waaaaa-man) if the premise is right. The movie was good, right up until they made two of the man heroes gay, and they mashed. For no apparent reason, all of a sudden, they have to be gay.

The Old Guard let me down.

What've been doing lately with networks like CBS and Apple+ is I wait untill there are a couple shows or movies I want to watch. Then sign up get, a couple days trial and pay for maybe a month and binge what I want. Then cancel and switch to something else. If there is a movie or two and maybe a series $5 isn't a bad deal.

lol I caught that to on the black sailors and then realized it was the 1940's. Segregation was still in play then. Black sailors only made up like 1.5% of the total sailors. Abolishing segregation in the military didn't take place till 1948 which was after WWII ended.

The USS Macon was the only all black ship that we're not cooks or waiters. It was a destroyer escort ship and on that ship was the first black women of WW2.
