Anyone else frustrated with Ford over the next GT500?

The Tech Pack cars were an attempt to somehow appeal to a certain Mustang buying demographic. The idea to exclude coolers was an error in judgement. I don't see Ford making that mistake on this car and trust that addressing any cooling issues was a major priority.

Do you know of anyone who turned the heat management off or raised the temp thresholds? I know a few folks added coolers. I'm wondering what it was that they are trying to protect us from. I mean, I know heat is bad for oils and makes parts softer so they are more prone to excessive wear or damage, but how rapidly could the damage possibly occur?

But I agree that it was an error in judgement though. I just wanted AC, NAV and comfortable seats. I don't know why Ford would think that translates to "skip the cooling systems... their never gonna track the car". You're probably right. They took a lot of backlash over that. Hopefully it's a top focus on the new car.

hey if it's any consolation, I think your gonna get your manual in this car but your also gonna get 800hp to go with it. do you still want the manual?

Absolutely! However, if they offer a DCT, I would definitely consider it just for the fact a factory Mustang has never had a DCT before. Let's just hope they learned a lot of lessons from the DCT debacle in the Focus.

...

Wasn't the transmission the reason for the limp mode issues? A high revving engine can really put a transmission through its paces. That causes a lot of heat that can cause the tranny oil to shear. Ford knows where the shear point is for the stock fluid and sets the transmission protection accordingly.

That's most likely what it is. I know it's the trans that causes my car to go into reduced power mode when I'm at the track. When it's because the trans overheats, they disable the reverse camera. When the camera starts working again, that's when you know temps are back in the safe range.

I'd love DCT in new GT500, hopefully Ford gives us this option . After driving my friend's FBO E85 GTR , DCT is awesome . A8 is C7 Z06 was kind of a disappointment . Up shifts were OK but everything else was blahh , slow downshifts and very slow response to paddle shifters

The 7dci700 Getrag, has a 10k lb GVWR, and it may also get some updates for this car. It’s the logitudinal not the transaxle version that’s in the GT which is the 750.

The nice thing with dct’s is the shifting doesn’t vary so dramatically part and full throttle. I don’t like auto’s, but a well done dct is very good. They can shift harsh but who cares. If you buy a performance car to tool around in comfort, just expect to feel uncomfortable. “I want luxury and comfort and living room but oh also I want it to be hyper fast”

Well pick 2 of three and be happy if you get any of the third. Fast. Comfort. Price.

And honestly even a veyron doesn’t do comfort like people think it does. A fully loaded Mercedes s class coupe is arguably much more comfortable. And you can adjust your seat in the s class.

It'll be a tough choice to make between the auto or manual.
I'm leaning towards the auto though. It won't be my daily.

I have decided try to buy a new GT500 with auto when they become available.
The only way it will happen is if I can find one for MSRP. If anyone runs across a dealer that will sell for MSRP and you aren't interested, please send me a PM. I am on the central coast of the Socialist State of California.

If this happens and you get one I want to be first in line to come see it / ride in it. Assuming there's no ADM for that.

Cars in general are largely a financial liability. That said paying a surcharge to lose money is stupid.

Couple it with any interest and full depreciation (from new), it’s very likely the person making that kind of financial choice will have the luxury to do so at most 3 times in their lifetime.

That same money, working for them as investments in real estate trusts, land, passive business, or markets and bonds would afford a revolving door of annual barely used vehicles after about 10 years of setup.

To the guy paying an adm because it’s a non issue to them, well that’s capitalism. No shame in spending your money how you want.

To the guy racking up debt to do so, you’re being China’s/anti American interests lackey you blundering selfish simpleton.

It’s one thing to finance a car you arguably shouldn’t be financing, but anyone who has also financed an adm is not financially savvy or worldly astute in that choice.

You can buy a gallon of ice cream from the supermarket every day and eat it for dinner. It’s a dumb idea. It’s not illegal to charge or pay an adm, but man is it foolish. Wait a few month or a year and get a used one private party with 3K miles or less, save 25%, and send at least half of it my go fund me account. (Shameless plug, it’s America.) The other half is a gift to you and your family of your own money, at no loss or negative interest. You’ll have the car you wanted, and extra money.

No brainer to buy one at MSRP, can likely drive for a year and sell for sticker if it's as hot as predicted.
I've done it both ways new vs used.
If it's a car you'll keep a long time, I'd go new.
If you'll sell quickly, take your time and buy low mile 1-3yrs old, but you have to be diligent to find a well cared for car.
Many guys beat them up for a few years then sell them, even if clean and low miles, they can be hard miles.

Ok so is the bet on the Tremec DCT or Getrag? I've never really researched the DCTs but I'll take the one in the Ferrari 488GTB and 458 Italia I drove!

@DBK has said that the FGT tranny isn’t going in any other Ford. Unless he is playing coy and means no other Ford will get a transaxle.
