As 13Cobra said, Ford does not have to market or discount their halo cars like the competition does.

I heard about the 2012 Boss 302 like everyone else in 2010, went to Woodward dream cruise that August just to see the car in person.

Decided I liked it, found a dealer that would sell me a Laguna Seca at sticker, and ordered said car. A little over a year later in October of 2011 my car came in, drove it for a few weeks before putting it away for the winter, and since spring of 2012 have been driving the hell out of it and enjoying every minute of it.

Not once over the year and a half wait did I bitch, squawk, complain, cry, throw a tantrum, I just figured the car would get here when it gets here.

The fords have more focus on engagement, and fun factor than the gm’s.

You’re going to have more fun driving a car that rewards and engages you than one that is very capable but comparitvely numb/unengaging.

Gtr vs gt3rs is a perfect example.

Gt3rs vs gt350r goes to the gt350r in terms of fun factor/desire to own for most comparisons I’ve seen. Numbers go to the gt3rs, fun and feel go to the gt350r. I saw one back to back where the Porsche fan actually said he was shocked how good the gt350r was, I’ll find it

^lost to a Maclaren, traps about 120 in the quarter mile, runs 11’s in an almost perfect scenario. Is bolt ons and track prep away from mid 11’s@125. Same as a manual hellcat if not better.

If you want a very fun balanced car, go rally a supercharged gt350. Very very nice. I really want to rally a supercharged gt350r.

I do like the mopar scene a lot today though. I feel like Dodge has carried the Dr. Jekle, Mr. Hide ethos of the 03 terminators to a far reaching place.

Sure it’s heavy compared to its contemporaries, but it still handles well regardless of peak grip, and it’s tons of power at a great price in a nice package with a warranty.

In 03, 400hp for $32k in a 3700lbs car was pretty impressive compared to a 355hp c55 amg costing $60k or a $60k m3 making 333hp. Apple orange cars but you get the idea.

Today a $55k 707hp 4400lbs hellcat is impressive compared to a $85k+ 443-600hp m4 or amg. Apple orange cars but you get the idea

So let me get this straight: you are happy with how Ford is handling this launch of this car?

You do understand that the delays IS because of what Chrysler is doing right?

I work in marketing for major brands (just did Bud Light Fridges in Cleveland) and to not use a halo product like this to generate excitement for the brand is dumb.

.....I'm about to go drive 840bhp down the road thinking about 700+ HP from Ford. Cute.

1. Ford has not launched this car as of yet. You can’t mishandle something that has not been attempted.

2. That is like saying Porsche delayed the launch of the 2018 991 GT2RS just because Mclaren made the MP4-12C, then the P1, then the 650, the 570, and then the 675LT all before 2018. In other words your statement is garbage!

3. Thank goodness you don’t market for Ford! You probably think Porsche mishandled the 18 991 GT2RS marketing too...

4. I doubt it. I think you’re still trying to figure out why your 300hp civic is more fun to drive than your 840hp demon!

Once it dawned on me that this car is likely going to be $100k (or close to it), I gave up the idea of getting one, thus gave up caring about its release.

I mean, I can afford it... but I am not paying $100k for a Mustang. I was reluctant to buy the 2011 GT500 and the 2016 GT350 because they were $60k. Though I didn't buy my 2013 GT500, that was $60k, too. Someone would be hard-pressed to explain why I need to spend almost double compared to the last 3 iterations of this car.

The car will start at roughly $65k. The options will put it to $80k.

The reason someone would pay $80k for a 2019/2020 gt500 over paying $67,500 for a fully loaded 2013 gt500 is that they are getting a 6 year newer mustang with an irs, and new chassis, as well as nicer interior, better aero dynamics, better wheels, tires, brakes, suspension, engine, transmission, and performance.

Yes, that $13k difference is quite steep in just 6 years. Inflation at 3% for 6 years would only allot for a 19.4% increase in price, where as this $13k jump is indeed a 19.4% jump in price... oh, hmm... maths be damned, Ford is obviously gouging customers somehow here. I can feel it. The numbers don’t matter, RACING LIVES MATTER!!!! Where’s a ski mask!!!! I need to go beat up ford people for this oppression!!!!!!!! ANTIFORD MEMBERS UNIT IN TEARING DOWN THESE FASCIST FORD PERFORMANCE NAZIIIIIIIIII’S!
