Swapped to big & littles & in that process ran across a used BC Automotive (before the bankruptcy drama) built 4r70w trans for a good price. Price? $2300 for trans with a brake & electronic OD, B&M shifter, & Circle D lock up 4000 rpm stall. Guy put 100 miles on set up & spun a bearing, so been sitting ever since. Sold my 6 speed, flywheel, MGW, whatever is left of clutch, quadrant, for $1500 still in car. Tonight, pulled driveshaft, shifter, mid-pipe. So it has begun............Sourcing other needed parts as I go. I work full time as a machinist....usually 7 days a week & 60ish hours, so this process may take 3 weeks or so to complete. TBD.....

Car is a full exhaust with headers, whipple 2.3, e85, 3.73 built sra with locker, tubular k & coil over front, adjustable rear shocks with eibach springs & passenger air bag, 6 point roll bar, full weight (outside of mentioned).

Let us know how the transmission does with part throttle driving. I have one his last built 4R70W and with a neutral or park Rev the car jumps a little. It also spins the wheels to 20mph when on jack stands. I need to do more data logging to see if it is a tune issue before I start looking for mechanical problems.

I really want to toss in a MVB and stop relying on the ECU.

What converter are you using? For sure I will keep this updated. Bought it from a guy on Corral out of PA who spun a rod bearing on a new motor, a short time after installing this. There is a guy fairly local to me who also has a BC unit for sale with dirty dog converter, but it is auto valve body & I just preferred to go manual.

Head is spinning a bit from reading about this harness BS & just trying to locate a 99 GT auto harness. Think that is my only concern at the moment. Well that & the 4000 stall may be a bit too high for a whipple car. Gonna put it in though & give it a whirl. If I have to, I'll take it back out and have Circle D restall it over winter. Delivery date is 9/6 to my house, so have time to get missing pieces together.

I have a multi disk circle D converter. It's stall is between 3200-3400. The car drives fine it just surges when at stoplights like it has very aggressive cams installed but it doesn't. Have to put my junk in neutral when at stoplights. I'm thinking it's a transmission issue because it only does it in forward gears. For all I know the pressures could be turned up too high causing the converter clutches to drag a little... Who knows.

I am definitely going to go with a B&M cooler with a fan. Thinking I am going to run steel tubing & just bend & double flare it myself. Rubber hose isolators at each end to allow movement. Making the plan as I go.......but that is what I have in mind at the moment.

What did you do for yours?

I started with the rubber hose and metal lines but didn't look very clean so I swapped it out for an fittings and PTFE lines. Just an idea

Here is the list I have put together that I will update as I go. Should be mostly all inclusive. Until the trans is sitting here, can't be sure. Obviously the trans & converter came out of a running 2000 Mustang, so I ASSUME the electronics, speedo, shift bracket, etc are all correct. Using toggle switches & relays, I plan to wire the trans brake to the coast button on the steering wheel & the line lock to the off button. OD with simply run off a toggle/relay. I already purchased some items like the Mach 1 brake pedal, shift bezel, & block plate.

A little surprising that beyond the trans & converter..........you still need to spend another $1000 in parts, give or take a couple hundred dollars with the pieces you choose. Once I finish going over all this, put in the order by eod on Friday. Most is coming from Summit. Oil is not even listed since I can get that locally, as well as wiring & other misc stuff I am sure to run into.

If you havent ordered the wiring harness, I have a new in box trans harness for an auto Mach 1 that I was going to use, but I used the US Shift Quick 1 instead.

All parts are now ordered! Moving forward now!

Realized I needed a longer driveshaft, so that is added to the list. Bought from a Corral member.
