Tuned another one of these last Thurs. Came in on 91 octane and with 16# of boost it made 591/498. This was with a Frisbee pulley up top and a stock lower. We then put on a smaller upper pulley and on 20# of boost and straight 100 octane made 640/572. I would like to see this car with a lower crank pulley to get the tq. up along with 25# where the blower will shine.

I agree the tq. numbers are not the greatest, but I would like to see what it does with more boost. I can say the IAT's are very low and the blower never even got warm to the touch.

There is somebody else on this forum that had his 3.3 vortec tuned with 24psi on 93 and made around 725rwhp. I'm pretty sure he didn't know it was going to make that much boost so he was holding his breath.:lol1:

If this car made 591 with the stk upper just put a 2lb lower to pick up the tq so you can still run 91. If he runs a 2.76 he will have to run 100oct+ all the time. 590-600rw on 91 its already there just needs some tq, 700rw dame that will deff need a 2.76 pully.

Of course I post here!! This is the best Cobra Site!!!

We ran a stock lower with a 3.50 upper to get 20lbs and used 100 Octane

I have access to a 3.0 upper, thinking it will make 22-23lbs and maybe switch to 116??

This is just for the race tune only... I'm going to drive around on 16 psi with 595 RWHP :)

How much do you think the 4.10 are hurting us for numbers.... Im not trying to dyno race but was just curious as most people are running 3.55.

This car will see the track when done!!!

Thanks for all the kind words!! I'm very happy with the kit. Nice and clean install.

Im thinking Im running into belt slip with 3.5 upper pulley. There is a guy on modfords with this kit and is making 24lbs of boost with a 4lb lower and 4.25 upper with cams, heads, and headers. I did the math and blower rpm is 13382. With a stock lower and 3.50 upper, blower rpm is 13928, so I should at least be at 24lbs. What do you guys think? What do I do to limit belt slip? Manual Tensioner?? I really dont want to run a lower due to the elimination of the factory pulley cage. Any ideas or thoughts?

Get in on the group buy for the new lower with the cage thats being produced very soon. 4lb lower sounds like its the ticket for your setup...im getting the 4lb myself

I love this vortech kit. I made 755/643 uncorrected on 24# and low timing that was with heads and gt cams

As far as belt slip im running an auxilary idler on mine and no problems so far

The math we did on mod fords im sitting at 14164.70. Maybe try a idler by the blower pulley

IMO I dont like the vortec and those tq numbers seem low, I would stick with a whipple or KB.

?? This Blower will outshine small cased Whipples or KB's hands down,
with the right pulley combination and fuel it's capable of hitting 800RW!

What is the diameter of the pulleys you are using? I figured your 4 lb lower was 8.75. If I can get your blower rpm I should make more boost than you given your mods. Also what rpm did you pull the car to when you made 725?

We tried an idler and boost was solid just not high enough! :(

Im not sure of the diameter. Its all in that thread I made before the dyno. The numbers and the formula we used . We spun it to 7k. What did your car make sae?
