So my alternator just locked up on my eating swapped 01. Where is the best (read cheapest) place to get an alternator ready to bolt in. And what belt do you recommend running (stock pullies, had a stock motorcraft belt).

Thanks for that. Im having trouble getting my phone to cooperate as I sit waiting on the tow truck. So im looking at 142-150 for a new alternator then 30 for a belt.

I have one that has only 50 miles on it. All stock put on by ford and then I realized I needed a higher amp alt. pm me and make me an offer I can ship it first thing Monday. Has the stock pulley also.

That's funny. I was gonna start a thread about this.
Friday night mine went bad at the track. Car has 17k miles...

Is it better to have the factory one rebuilt? Or buy this eBay one?
Also. Anyone tried a pa performance ?

My original alt died in summer 2010... Bought a remand one from Tousley Ford (they are awesome!) lasted 3 mo 2k miles, sent me a replacement free of charge. That one lasted about a year and a half/6k miles. I replaced it with the 160 Amp alternator that eagleautoelectric sells on eBay. So far its been working well for 3 months / 1,500 miles. Just sharing my experiences! :coolman:

Bought a remanned factory unit for 60 on eBay... so far so good.

Actually it was $69 plus $13 shipping. Pretty good deal. Plus it's not all that hard to change out.

There are a couple of threads about the eBay alternator. It is a good one.

DO NOT BUY A PA PERFORMANCE ALT(at least for the 03-04 Cobra). I just saved you $300.

There are a few alternatives, but the Ebay alt looks to be the best for the price. I have heard lots of good about it. If my Frankenstein alt ever fails, I will give the Ebay alt a try for sure.

BTW, the factory alternators are all rebuilds now and IMO not worth the money.
