Posted up the dyno vid and numbers in the Pic buffet and video buffet but had a lot of people asking about progress so I decided I would start a build thread.

Little back round I sold my 03 Cobra in the end of Feb. I did this since I was tired of paying for it every month and watching it sit in the garage. I came across this on Corral and went to NH to get it on March 3. The car needed some TLC which I knew but was worst than what I thought. The motor and the blower combo was worth more than what he wanted for the car so we worked out the number and I came home with it. Here's what it looked like when it came home

The start
March 4th
Ordered the first Pieces :headbang: Got a 2003 Cobra console with a 2003 Cobra E-Brake handle assembly for MPS. It needed an E-Brake handle since it doesn't work so I figured WTF might as well get the nicer console too :)

6. 3 gauge bezel for under the radio
7. Chrome trim rings for gauge cluster
8. Shrader Performance rear seat delete
9. Shrader Performance radiator cover

Everything including the Console should be here by Friday getting the car towed down to my shop tomorrow so I can give the underside a checkup on my lift instead of my back and make sure there are no serious issues then we shall start on the body :headbang: Also talked to my buddy Kevin Hand today and soon enough we will have her on the rollers to tune her to his specs

March 6th

Got the rest of the interior scrubbed up and installed tonight. Got the Shrader rear set delete in . Gotta clean up the wiring in the dash put the pedals in and scrub the dash again before I close up the dash and kick panels. Maybe that will get done this weekend if the fuel system goes easy. The interior is reall starting to come together I can't wait till its complete gonna look real good IMO. Valve covers also came in today just waiting on the front timing case cover so I can send pieces out to the powder coater for some crinkle black love. Got a set of magnapacks coming and a breather canister to eliminate my Pcv system before the tune

March 28th

Got some more done on her today I got the intercooler piping straightened out so i wont have to cut the cobra bumper still have to redo all of it they way I want but for this season it will do just fine. Got the teflon fuel lines ran up to the fuel rails, got all the sending units installed for the gauges, got the catch can setup in the d/s fender. Also got the cobra bumper on and fitted and all new evap lines ran into the vent valve in the p/s fender. John (Slowhite) dropped off the new magnaflow tails and tips so tomorrow I will fit the magnapacks and tails onto the car along with the interior gauges and hopefully finish up running the lines off the valve covers to the catch can and cleaning up the wiring and vac lines in the engine bay.

Chipped away at her some more today a big thank you goes out to Al,Bobby and George with out them the exhaust would have met a swazzall :laughing2:. Today started out as gauge day and slight clean up well that escalated to full bore clean and paint redo all the wiring in the car the prev owner did, exhaust and catch can day:eek:mgno:. I started to take the intake tube apart and realized it had a fitting cut off the power pipe and glued to it WTF is wrong with people  it snapped right the fugg off. I fixed that then went a decided to clean up the pipes change the coupler and put beads on all the pipes since none of them had any again WTF!!!!!!!!. That turned into lets paint the power pipe and maf housing  then lets clean all the wiring up on the p/s of the motor then lets re polish the blower :eek:mgno: after that was done I finally got to plumb the catch can and clean up all the vac lines and replumb the evap system with all new hoses. Then I moved on to the exhaust and let me tell you the pypes system that was on the car is on giant turd FUGGGGG Chris Chrstiansan from PINK'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after an hour of modifying the magna packs are on with reg muffler clamps for now I have to order 6 band clamp's tomorrow. Finally got to the gauges and after an hour of cleaning up the wire nut mess I was faced with she got her new set of heart monitors. The only thing left to do is wire the shift light to the computer and put the line lock switch on the shift bezel which is why you still don't see it at the car. Me the dumbass I am wasted 1/2 an hour trying to figure out why I smelled oil by the d/s door then I finally realized oh yeah dummy you put the catch can in the fender well . Gonna order the new Motorcraft batt this week and then clean the wiring mess up on the d/s fender and get rid of the baby batt in there now.

Retarded glued fitting :eek:mgno:

She's really starting to come together I am really starting to get excited to get her finished. It sounds down right angry with the magnapacks on and has that nice low rumble instead of sounding like a pickup missing the muffler with that Pypes system.

Took the alt off and wired wheeled that dirty looking thing and then threw 3 coats of spray can clear on it looks brand new now. Got the car all back together and fired it and guess what oil is pissing out of the d/s valve cover I rolled the gasket when I hit the stud for the hydro boost unit FML I knew it I fu&*ing knew it and thought that when I felt the gasket it was ok well its not FML!!!! I was taking tomorrow off until this now I gotta run to Miele in the morning grab new gaskets and grommets and take the damn hydro boost back off the car. Gonna grab an Interstate batt tomorrow too and finsh off the engine bay completely. Starting to look really good now gotta say I can't wait till its done and all I have is the up keep of cleaning it.

Changed both valve cover gaskets painted the p/s side so it looks just as fresh as the d/s, finished cleaning up the engine bay and redoing the spaghetti that was called wiring, got the line lock switch wired in and closed up the center console with the new Bullitt shift bezel and got the wing off just to take a look and see what shes gonna look like.

Tuning appt is next Saturday with Kevin down at Wicked getting closer!!!! I am dying to get this thing dialed in and all the bugs it has worked out of the tune.

photobucket-4870-1333852991980-1.jpg

April 14th

Well helped out a couple buddies today at the shop then got a few small things done to button up the interior finally. Finished wiring the shift light, installed the Cobra/Mach pedals and finished cleaning up my gauge cluster and touched it off with some nice chrome bezels.

I am really really happy with the interior at this point. The only thing I need is a steering wheel:( Unfortunately I am out of money for the interior so the wheel has to wait unless somebody wants to donate to the fat kid needs a steering wheel fund

I know the carpet is on the pedal I know;) I spray glued that bitch down after the pic

Car is looking nice. I can't believe all the issues that you have uncovered. I bought a car "similar" to that years ago. Every time I looked at the car I found something else that was screwed up. I love the fitting glue into the pipe....LOL

Is this Cory's old car? He used to give me so much shit about how I ran the cobra body panels on the car and how my car looked too modified. At least I kept my shit clean and took care of it, he obviously didn't know how to take care of his car. Congrats on the purchase and nice to see you doing things the right way from the beginning.

1000 wet sand to 1500 wet to 2000 then mothers and a wool wheel. It was polished to begin with just needed some elbow grease and clean up work

Yeah I bought a drivetrain but didn't get off cheap when you look at the Money and time invested in the car 10k of parts paint and clear plus well over 150 hrs of my own time you do the math. I became freindly with Cory and new the potential of the car when we started going thru everything. Also Cory never stated the car was something it was not so I knew what I was getting into. The build is all the fun

Ok thanks man i will try that. When you wet sand it it scuffs it up, so im guessing the mothers hides that? Mine is polished too, i bought it used and got it cheap but the shine has seen some better days

As you sand it scuffs it correct but when you start getting into the finer grits it takes out the heavier sand scratches. They make 2500 and 3000 grit also which I am sure would give it a smoother finish if you really want to get crazy. The mothers metal polish is than able to take out the very fine scratches which is what gives you that mirror like effect. Just make sure that you use quality paper like 3m and do all the steps wet. A couple hours later you'll be amazed at the result. Also see if you can find a little wool wheel to attach to your drill that makes it so much easier

Made some more progress over the weekend. Got the car wet sanded with 600 and found the few area's that need to be readressed. Got the CC plates installed
and figured out the UPR coil over kit does NOT WORK with Strange 10 way adj front struts despite what UPR say's ! Now when I get some more cash I am gonna order the Strange front coil overs. Got all the brakes done calipers painted. Straightened out my pinch welds and welded in jacking rails. Got all the rust off my subframes Por-15 those bitches than undercoated them. Replaced the front lower control arm bushings since the previous ones were installed dry and torn the F apart. Lowered the front 1/2 an inch which I think is where I am going to leave it. Cleaned up the rear inner quarters and re undercoated them. Finished plumbing my catch can setup with a drain under the car so I can leave the can in the upper fender. Popped on some MRT hood struts.

Hoping to shoot this POS next weekend fingers are crossed.
On to the pic's!!!!!

To make the strange struts work you have to knock off he cap. The caps are tack welded on and the sleeves should slide over. Or are th strange struts a little to thin for the sleeves? I ended up with tokico adjustable drag struts. But they only have 4 drag settings and 1 street setting.
