Holy crap, that is massive......I think...I don't recall the scale numbers entirely.
That’s a substantial earthquake, the video is nuts.

I have a friend that lives out in Alaska. We graduated high school together. I hope him and his family are doing well.
Actually, I hope everyone is doing okay out there. That is a big earthquake.

Wow! I only experienced some 3's and 4's when I live in CA... maybe a 5.0.

Im thankful I never experienced one stronger than that.

I remember when we moved there in 1993 and everyone said the big one coming. I remember being a very confused nine year old from Texas the first time we had an earthquake. I would not want to be near anything like the one today.

That is big. I rode out a 7.2 in cali and that was the only one that scared the crap out of me.

Might have been the same one I went through. Easter Sunday of 2010?

I was in El Centro so 45 miles from the epicenter.

Earthquakes went on for days...hundreds per day. First few days had numerous 3/4/5s.

This was back in 92. Believe it was called the Landers quake.

They don't use the Richter scale anymore, since it had flaws on stronger quakes iorc.
It's now the moment magnitude scale.
An increase in magnitude is exponential and crazy.
Say we have a 5.0 and 6.0. The 6.0 has 33x the energy of the 5.0.
A 7 would be the energy of a 5 x 33 x 33

I've been in a 5.6... cant imagine 7+
