Just got these from a friend that works with me at the FD. He works part time at Sebring and well ill let the pics do the talking. To think he heat wrapped everything as well. Imagine with no blankets or wrap.

Wow! Never seen anything like that before. Is the white stuff from a fire extinguisher?

Needs a wee bit more time spent on engine bay heat management eh?

Sucks but it doesn't appear catastrophic, could have been a lot worse.

Damn that's nuts. I have my hotside ceramic coated and wrapped and I can place my hands on the piping/turbo right after making a 1/4 mile pass. It's warm, but not hot enough to burn on contact so I think it's good.

Road racing is on a whole different level though

wonder how long they were on the track for the heat to become an issue like that

There are 20 minute on track sessions, counting cool down lap, but that's only if you're right at the line when they start. Either way, not a real long time out.
I drove by a couple of times but didn't know what was wrong and saw it at the hotel afterwards. Now that I see the close ups, ouch, but if there's a bright side at least it's not catastrophic.

yea that's some heat!! Should ceramic coat that shit! (If that would even help the immense heat from the hotside)

downside to having plastic valve and coil covers? Aren't the 4.6 4v valve covers metal?
