Car made 850+whp for over a year with a stock longblock and ported TVS on FTW Clear fuel and made 750whp for 18 months prior on basic bolt ons and E85.

At the risk of destroying a $5k block, it was time to consult the experts at Modular Performance Solutions and Accufab to get me sorted. I had a strict budget so you'll see I splurged in some spots but was conservative in others.

The car is built primarily for half mile and mile events so I knew the engine was on extremely borrowed time.

Specs:
5.8 Aluminum
Darton Sleeves
Manley Flat Tops with valve reliefs (10.2 CR)
Manley I beams
Stock '13 GT500 crank (double keyed)
Mostly Stock Heads (slight work)
Comp Cams (238/242, 116LSA, .525 lift)
Upgraded Springs
Ford GT secondaries/10mm Chains (Accufab)
Secondary Tensioner Kit (both sides Accufab)
10mm Primary Chain (Accufab)
Cloyes Hex-adjust Primary
Accufab crank gear
Accufab Oil Pump Gears
8mm Pivot Pins (Accufab)
Navi Arms
Accufab Guides
96 Cobra Tensioners
Accufab billet crank trigger

Plan is to put the 2.3 back on until the VMP 2.65 is released. Should be fun.

Interesting. I'm currently looking to do something similar. I just bought a TVS Gen 2 R and plan on getting an E85 tune. I'm already sitting at 755whp on 93 and I know I'll be on the edge, so a build is inevitable, considering I plan on running the 1/2. Just not looking forward to the price.

Remember, that price goes up significantly if you eject a rod, mess up the crank and damage the heads.

Accufab and Modular Performance Solutions FTW. This is great info to get out as often when people research a build of this caliber it's easy to unfortunately think your options are limited between parts/vendors in the community. My shortblock was sleeved/assembled through MPS as well, and is using damn near all the exact same parts as this. Accufab/MPR/TSS/Cloyes/Ford comprised my timing component combo also. If "top-notch" is what you're looking for, those company's, especially Accufab, will shoot you straight with a high-quality product. Most importantly I can comfortably say all of these company's will stand behind their parts and products. This is all good stuff for us.

Looks like a real nice build! Congrats and a wise decision, if you don't mind me asking approx. how much invested in the short block build?

I can't remember off the top of my head. I'll check the invoice tomorrow. The sleeves were a $2k add on though. Having a good crank and block were huge cost savings for me.

Very nice, look forward to the results.
Should make an easy 900+rwhp and I also can't wait for the 2.65 TVS as you'll soon find the 2.3 just can't hold the boost (air flow) of a properly built 5.8
Have you heard any 2.65 news?
Did you ever get anywhere with Edelbrock considering a GT500 kit?

Im sure ill make 15-16psi as its currently configured so your right... I guess I could throw a 20% OD on there for giggles.

Edlebrock will obviously have a Coyote kit but a 5.4/5.8 kit is not looking good, at least for the near future.

VMP should be getting 2.65 out this year sometime, probably fall/winter

Good question. I feel the 2.65 will be more than sufficient to make 1000rwhp/1000rwtq and Im a sucker for off idle torque, OEM style superchargers, and doing more with less. If i wanted to make 1200+, ill add nitrous spray bars to the intercooler which is also in the plans. I just like the TVS in so many ways.

Accufab is the best. Im glad to have Johns parts on board. Im glad to have Jeremiah of MPS to put it all together. It's a recipe for success.

Thanks for the reply, what kind of psi are you thinking will get you up into that range of hp/tq? I always appreciate the knowledge from guys who are going strong.

Also questioning budget in case I'm crazy enough to do the same.

These are rough prices and there is fudge built in. The shortblock itself is roughly $7500 (piston $1k, rods $1300, sleeves with install $2500, balance rotating assembly $400, bearings $200, billet oil pump gears $400, main/head studs $800 double key crank $200, etc). The real kicker is the $3500+ for cams/springs and all especially all the 10mm Ford GT timing stuff + new valve covers (which IMO is a lot of insurance if you choose a reputable company like Accufab). Also add in labor to pull engine and put engine back in if you pay to have it done like me. Add in a Fore fuel system as well.

"Upgrading" to a big blower that might make 50 more hp, to me, is money better spent elsewhere unless you are a car show guy or want to make 1200+ hp

It should do 900/900 @ 16psi on the ported 2.3 TVS (2.39 + 10% OD). I dont know what kind of boost is possible with the 2.65 but im confident itll put my combo into the 1k on boost only and guys like Jordan Weir into 1150-1200+

Making 1000WHP is possible with the stock TVS along with a few mods such as a return style fuel system, E-85, and proper tune. Don't sell the 2.3L TVS short.
