2001 SVT Cobra VS 2003 Mach I

Not being a gear head, I would think a stock 2001 SVT Cobra would beat a stock Mach I. What's the deal here?

Gearing, Compression Ratio help the Mach 1 edge out a 99-01 Cobra in the 1320. Equal drivers of course.

Usually a drivers with the edge going to the Mach.

Advantages to the Mach:
CR- 10:5:1>9:85:1
gears- 3:55>3.27
Cams: they have better intake cams for TQ, but cobra's cams are better for higher HP near redline.....
Rear: Solid vs IRS

I'm sure there are other advantages I forgot to mention out there but everyone seems to think since the 99-01 has Cobra badges on it it can't lose.

Nope, exact same motor both years. Its was a simple re-rating.

correct mine dynod 278.8 on a superflow dyno bone stock. 278/.85 ~ 327 in the 5 speed.

Both years have identical motors with 10.1:1 compression. The 310 HP rating was a marketing feature for 2004 since the motor is underrated and actually produces roughly 320 crank HP.

Any way you slice it the Mach is a slightly stronger car than a 99-01 Cobra.

Thats great that the 03-04 mach 1's are stronger than the 99-01 cobra's. Now why don't you compare a 03-04 svt cobra to a 03-04 mach 1.

My car was a good egg since the day I got it. With only the bassani catback it ended up producing 287hp and 300tq at the wheels no tuning. Thats pretty decent crank power. Its treated me well. Blew up the 5 speed though. Knew it would happen at some point.

I really like that aluminator long block on the FRPP site.

'03-'04 Cobra = 360-390 RWHP / Mid-High 12s STOCK
'03-'04 Mach 1 (M5) = 270-299 RWHP / Mid-Low 13s STOCK

Um yeah.....and why would we do that? The reason 99-01 Cobras and 03-04 Machs are compared so often is because they are so close performance and numbers wise it really comes down to preference and your end state goals. The Terminator easily has 80+RWHP on the aforementioned cars- what is there to compare?

99-01 Cobra NA 320hp.....03-04 Mach1 NA 310hp

03/04 Cobra- SC. 390hp (way underestimated)
