Sunday night they stayed at a remote place called SOLO Sports which is a world famous destination for kite and wind surfers. They normally fly everyone in to their private airstrip on the beach, but a few like us take the 38 mile dirt road in

Unbelievably, tractor trailers run this rough road to pick up loads of bagged beach rocks from a small community of locals who live in shacks along the beach and get $1 a bag and ate sold for about $20 a bag in Home Depot as landscaping stones.

"The dust in the Broncos is starting to pile up! We're having to clean or change air filters daily and have had a few start running poorly due to loaded air filters.

"Harry got the honor of turning a milestone in the Balloon Chaser Ambulance Bronco. 40,000 miles in 41 years. The Ambulance had about 35,000 on it when we got it from James Duff in 2011.

My guess is when it rolled over to 30,000 Bill Stroppe was still alive and to chased his desert racing team back in the 80s and early 90s in these very same spots

We skipped the roadside make shift gas station along a remote stretch but it might not have been a bad idea to get some there since when we arrived in BOLA, the station ran out of gas before we all filled up. Having somehow ended up as the designated tail gunner Bronco on the trip, we were one ones who did not get fuel, so I had to bum a can off of Bill Drew when we arrived at the resort.

We tended to our horses shortly after arriving. Harry was able to free up our distributor which had been seized in the engine block, which allowed us to retard the timing to address the engine knock / pinging we've been experiencing at times. After the other normal fluid checks, torquing the lug nuts, cleaning the air filter, we washed the day off in the ocean and then the pool before diner and more drinks and good times!

Had some fuel issues with Robs Bronco so they dropped the gas tank and changed the pump but that didnt fix it. On the trailer it goes

Got back to work on Robs fuel issues late that night. Had to pull the upper intake to remove a couple of the spark plugs and wires, but still no luck. Also put on a cap and rotor and swapped in a different ECM for his fuel injection

Looks like they're taking a 2-3 day break outside Loreto for some fishing, scuba diving, and of course...drinking

Ya I asked about that and they have never had any issues. You don't dare drive into Mexico with even a shell casing or you could be imprisoned.

A couple of the guys on the trip have participated in the Baja 1000 so they know their way around.

Funny story about that —

One of the Detailers for my shop went to Mexico with his wife. Coming back through the border and they found a 9mm round in his bag. Spent 3 months in Mexico in a sort of jail purgatory, between jail and his lawyers house.

His lawyer eventually got him to the border and looked the other way while he crossed the border lololol

Day 2 in Loreto they went to a restaurant in town that the First Mate on our fishing charter recommended and took some of our catch to be prepared for us in a few ways.

We had an appetizer of fish salad on tortilla chips topped with a salsa fresca. We then had ceviche made from the trigger fish which was served on crackers and tortilla chips which was absolutely fantastic. The third course was grouper and yellowtail with several wonderful sauces and tortillas with rice and vegetables for fish tacos.

Day 11, San Felipe

The sun's up on our final day in Baja, soon it will be time to roll north to Arizona.

Yesterday we left Gurera Negro and traveled north to San Felipe and had a couple photo op stops.

First was the legendary Coco's Corner which is an eclectic shack built by an eccentric guy with a peg leg 40-50 miles from anything. Over the years it's become an institution to those racing and taveling the dirt roads of Baja.

Next was a beach to stretch our legs and get some shots of the Broncos.

Lastly was the Valley of the Giant Cactus just outside of San Felipe for some more pics.
