The one to remember is 30-year-old Chris Mintz, the student and Army vet who was shot at least five times while charging straight at the gunman in an effort to save others.

Mintz did so on the sixth birthday of his son, Tyrik.

“It’s my son’s birthday, it’s my son’s birthday,” he was heard saying as he lay wounded.

At the hospital, Mintz underwent at least one surgery. His cousin reports that he is expected to recover.

“From what I’m hearing, he’s fine,” the cousin said. “But he’s going to have to learn to walk again.”

Wonder if he'll be invited to the White House?

And the hydra comment...if you shut down 4chan, people will simply go somewhere else. There was already a mass exodus from 4chan to 8chan last year.

this, you can literally buy anything you could ever imagine. Drugs, weapons, people, etc etc. Can order RPGs, ample amounts of narcotics, etc etc. An internet black market, if you will.

They're not releasing more info on him because they don't want him getting the notoriety that he was seeking.
I think this statement by Morgan Freeman is on point. I don't want to know the shooters name. Or where he's from. Or how old he was. Or if it was even a he. Don't let his name get out and people might stop doing these mass shootings when the only real goal is to apparently kill themselves.

You have no clue what the deep web really is. TOR isn't the google chrome of the deep web. It's just an encrypted browser. The deep web can be accessed if you know how, and with certain permission.
Also, regarding 4chan, the killer had made a post there, but so do hundreds of other pukes every day, some of which post too much information and are caught, others don't ever go through with it.

In my original question regarding "why was information on the shooter being withheld" I was wondering if the shooter did not fit their preferred profile and more time was needed to develop a new story line. It seems that this clown cannot be put in any light except as another nutcase who admired other crazy people.

THAT is the real problem in society today IMO, the motivation to kill and/or commit acts of violence against others. The growing hatred/disdain towards others, or groups of people. The focus shouldn't be on the weapon of choice with these acts of violence and murder, but on the motives behind it. Too many in society are like pressure cookers, waiting to explode. And as we saw in that earlier linked "anonymous" transcript, even urged on my others filled with the same hatred. It's not unique to the United States, of course. It's all over the world.

Additionally, we all hate each other over every little thing now, black/white, good/bad, right/wrong, christian/muslim, single/married/polyamrous/bigamy, gay/straight/lesbian/transgender, atheist/religious, male/female, popular in-crowd/nerdy, introverted outcasts, rich/poor...we are so divided as a nation, more so than I think we have been before and EVERYONE except perhaps the men and women out serving our country right now have lost sight of the unity and patriotism that this country was founded on.

We have become a truly selfish nation of individualized, isolated people who are in it for themselves and no one else. The growing hatred is festering and fermenting because of all this division. only going to get worse too, sadly.

I personally didn't care who made the statement(and as I've come to find, he didn't actually make that statement). I stand by what was said, not who said it. I think we allow these shooters too much national attention. I would like to see what would happen if we stopped broadcasting the shooters name for the next year and see if it these public mass shootings decline in volume.

Does anybody really believe that? There are scores of responsible gun owners in this country --they know that's not true. We know because of the polling that says the majority of Americans understand we should be changing these laws -- including the majority of responsible, law-abiding gun owners.
There is a gun for roughly every man, woman, and child in America. So how can you, with a straight face, make the argument that more guns will make us safer? We know that states with the most gun laws tend to have the fewest gun deaths. So the notion that gun laws don't work, or just will make it harder for law-abiding citizens and criminals will still get their guns is not borne out by the evidence.

I'd imagine he doesn't care what the actual statistics say either. States with most restrictive gun laws (including his precious Chicago, Illinois) tend to have the most gun related felonies. Oregon also having restrictive gun laws, and the campus being a GFZ.

I think I read where a student said he was armed but didn't try to take the shooter out. Let me see if I can find something concrete confirming this.

It is gun free, unless you have a concealed carry permit, by Oregon Law.
