'02 Lightning versus '04 M3

This is absolutely hilarious! First off the guys sound like they walked off the set of "Good Will Hunting" and second the guy is talking SO MUCH smack it's makes it all the more funny when he gets what he deserves. Are there really that many people out there that don't do their research on the capabilities of other cars? Amazing.

It has happened to me before but it is still funny to hear. Talking shit like "this guy has got a clue" or "he's crazy, I am going to kill him" and then getting spanked, the only thing better would have been to see the look stunned look on his face. Like I said I have been in the same boat ( ran an old Turbo Porsche in my 99GT one night, I got the wood layed to me, but was talking crap to my friend before the race), but it is funny now looking back.

You're right, the M3 took off at 1. But it wouldn't have mattered either way. I've raced stock Lightnings before from a roll, and it's the same result.

One thing I'm curious about is who the driver was counting out loud to. I'd be surrpised if the M3 driver was able to hear him.

The M3? In the hands of the right driver, the coupes (the cabs weigh 350 lbs more) are high 12/low 13 second cars from the factory trapping anywhere from 105 to 107 mph.

i had no idea that were that fast either, ive only seen one at the track (03 coupe) and he ran a 14.3, must have been a HORRIBLE ive also driven a few 03's and taken em thru 1st and second and they didnt seem that quick, i guess i was just blinded by the m5's

It was probably a E36 M3 (1995-1999). They only had 240 hp and routinely run low 14's. The E46 M3 (2001 to present) has 333 hp. If you don't know BMW's, it's very easy to confuse the two.

Let me put it another way. I own a 2003 M3 with quite a bit of mods. My buddy has a 2002 M3 that is bone stock, all the way down to the paper filter. I also own a 2003 Mach 1 that, when stock (it's no longer stock), ran a 13.2 @ 105 on street tires. I raced my buddy in his M3 with my Mach 1 when it was stock and we were a dead heat every time. We raced from a roll 3 different times up to 130 or so, and we were dead even every time.

Actually, due to the far heavier weight of the M5, the M3 is typically quicker in 0-60 and 1/4 mile than the M5. This is well known throughout BMW circles. On the freeway however, the M5 will pull on stock M3. The Next M5 comes with 500HP, the M6 with 550 and the M3 with 425.
