I'm not really looking to start shit with the guy I bought it from but the car is a silver 10th anniversary. He owns a few cobras and has parted out many of them too. He swore he didn't touch this car but after talking to previous owner I know he put a motor in it and returned it to stock. I really just want to know what engine is in this car but I'll probably never know. He seemed like an honest guy but wasn't.
We love to start shit.

I agree the dude should be blasted. Especially since you said he parts out cobras and someone in the community will likely deal with him in the future.
That's my thought, to protect somebody in the future. I do understand OP possibly wanting to wait in case he wants to work something out.

Post 11 says Hone03. It seems @HVACdude knows who he is.
Smeagul was the guy from before, i have no clue at all if that's the guy who ripped off op but it would be pretty wild if it was him. he developed quite a rep for those who do not remember or did not see it in regards to a modified sonic blue coupe he was selling on here which later nose dived fast into proven allegations of counterfeit mystichrome leather sales, taking money for services not rendered & a myriad of other lovely activities. thankfully the terminator community on here collectively grabbed theyre pitchforks and took the trash out.

That is the first owner not the guy who I bought it from.
if your car is at all connected to that guy there will be a wealth of information as im sure you already know. is it silver or dsg? i believe he (smegull) at one time owned cobra bob's old car, which was dsg, he later had a mystichrome then finally a sonic blue.

I remember that happening. I didn't remember his screen name. It was an eye opening thread.

This is comical, OP believes/has proof he was screwed over and doesn’t put the persons screename or any information to possibly be able to help him.

My first one i bought in 06. turns out it had been crashed (entire right side of the car had been replaced. Rear quarter and all. It was very well done and the only reason i had a suspicion was a real light wrinkle in the trunk floor. Confirmed it after it got stolen crashed. Cut it up after i recovered it and found the repairs.

Not mad though. Bought the car with 9k miles in 06 for 15k. (Cheap because the steering rack and trans were both trashed). Ended up finding out after i pulled the engine it was a warranty replacement from ford likely installed in 04 so it has the latest heads.

OP, you started this thread so IMO you should post the name of the guy who sold it to you (and lied about some of the facts). Leaving out a minor detail is one thing, but willfully misrepresenting what you're selling is a whole different thing. Your call, of course, but as some have stated already, this is a tight knit group of folks who tend to look out for one another. If the seller has sold other cars, it behooves you to post his name to prevent others in the future to potentially be financially harmed. It is great that your Cobra appears to be solid, but you could just as well have ended up with issues you would have to fix. I totally understand you don't want to start crap with the seller, but.....it sounds like there was some level of deception displayed by the seller before you agreed to a purchase. SVTP does not take kindly to members who deceive others for their own gain. Which is why the seller of the Sonic Blue Cobra in the above thread that Brad posted got banned and rightfully toasted.

His name is David out of new bedford mass. I bought the car thru fb marketplace but as heavy as he's into these cars I'm sure he's on here but I don't know his screename.

Who would believe a guy selling a car would lie to you about its condition and/or history? As much as it sucks for the OP, it is on the buyer to determine the condition of the car and if he/she feels it is fair value for the ask. How you determine that after it’s been changed back to stock can be a difficult task. Some folks will go to any length to increase profit.

Ya I agree like the title says I didn't get screwed but was lied to. It's unfortunate that a guy that's big into these cars and the community would do this. I still think I paid fair value in it's condition. Just wish he was honest so I could know what parts were used in this car.

never feels good to be lied to about anything but especially something high value like a car. It always leaves you suspect about everything else about thr car.. I guess the best way to deal with this now if to try serching for car fax, or previous posts on the forums. the folks here ae grt at tracking down informtion about the cars.
