About a dozen years ago my youngest brother got a Jag XKR. Before picking it up he asked the dealership to tint the side and rear windows.

About a week into ownership he got pulled over. Cop said, "Are those tinted?"

He said, "Sure, by the dealer."

"Call a tow truck. You're not going anywhere."

"How about if I drive it home with the windows down?"

"Nope. If you want to drive it away and not tow it"....

And handed my bro a razor blade. When he had cleared about a 6 inch porthole in his driver's side window the officer said, "That'll do. Off you go."

I had a friend at the time that had that happen to him. Although he was a moron and went with 10% on the sides and rear of his firebird. It was so stupid dark that he had to drive with the windows down at night regardless of weather just so he could see. Never had the threat of towing until he got about a dozen "fix it tickets" under his belt. Cop sat there waiting for him to peel the entire door glass.
