Had a LTD Silverado for over a year, 6.2L optioned RST.

Got it for 53k in 22. Traded it in for 50k back in May.

The lifter issue is shit luck, IMO. I've seen posts on people getting hit twice in their ownership on either the 5.3L or 6.2L.

No real complaints, but just didn't care for having no fool proof way of preventing the lifters from going other than paying 4k+ to get new cams, springs, tune. But then goes the warranty on the powertrain. And the gas tank at 24gals sucked, even with 17-18mpg.

IIRC the front diff is welded on the Silverado so if you do ever do the above and want 35's etc, it's going to be a dog/make sure at least you get 3.42's.

Best way to get around the DOD issues on all 1/2 tons is to move up to a 3/4 ton gasser.

The Tundra is an absolute stunner in the looks department when done correct. Those lines really work for me. Also out of all performance cars that I have had, ironically the little Tacoma has been the one that has “given me back” the most money. Resale value, incredible. I have beat it to shit and still going strong. With that said, my vehicles have always been good to me and taken their beatings.
I have also thought about getting one, but the engine choice made me pause.
I dont think I can have a full size truck and it not be a V8.

I had the same issue with the Raptor. Almost took the leap a few years back, but ultimately could not swallow the ecobust.

Silverado is meh… The only one that really has appeal to me, is the ZR2. Which is not the model you are going for.

Tough choice.

Sad part is that that old 5.7 (while not top of the line on power) was a good engine.

Yup. Had I not got the itch to go offroading again I would of picked up a 7.3L F-250.

The steering ratio is about the same as my 59 bird.
But it does track super straight on the highway, even in the slow
lane with heavy truck grooves. Maybe the "slow" ratio has
something to do with that.

Apparently the early 7.3's have been having oiling issues, I assume (hope) Ford has fixed it by now. A friend of mine has a MY2020 (built in 19) 7.3 F250 with about 20k miles on it, he just got it back last week from having the valve body replaced. 3 weeks prior to that it had new cats put on due to a CEL for a cat efficiency code.

Regarding that oiling issue, a Ford field engineer told him "It'll probably blow up, so try to blow it up while its still in warranty"

He was ready to trade it in on a cummins Ram while it was sitting at the dealer except for the fact a base model w/ vinyl floors cummins Ram is 70 grand, whereas he paid mid 40's for this truck back in 2020. A truck with the same specs as his is about 55 grand now.

For 12 months??? What in the actual **** man. Come on.

Someone trying to take you for a LOOOOOOOOONG ride.
It's math.

$65k + tax/tittle/delivery = ~$72k

-$15k

$57k

57k at 0 interest is $950/M for 60M, @ 6% it's $,1130.

Either way, going after a 2nd Gen Platinum or TRD Pro with 38Gal tank now.

Just drove this one, does everything I need at half the price.

Nice looking rig!! Although...it has a 38gal tank for a reason. Based on my friends who have had them, your MPG might not be a hell of a lot different that what you've got now.

About 11-14mpg around town. But the engine is about as solid as it gets. Couple issues is the water pump tend to leak after 60k miles or so which isn’t too hard to replace when it happens. Also check it doesn’t have a cam tower leak. That can be an issue but if it’s barely seeping it may never be a problem.

Toyota claims 17mpg. Real world is 13-15mpg stock trucks and 12-13mpg for wheels/lifts.

Even 13mpg would be a 30% increase.

Remember, my biggest complaint isn't fuel cost, it's time between full ups. Right now I get 210 miles a tank. So I'm at the station every other day almost.

38 gal tank also has an issue of the fuel light comes on around 30gal, but even so, 30 gal x 13mpg = 390 miles. Nearly double.

Yup, cam tower leaks. All the other issues resolved by 2015.

Chassis remains the biggest issue if you are a rust belter. They just turn to dust up North.

The new tundras don’t get much better mpg than that. I’d take the 5.7 over it all day. You did good and saved a lot of $

Dang, I figured all newer 1/2 ton vehicles got like 1000 miles per tank between fill ups now towing 10k lbs.

You don't need that turd.

You already have a great HD truck. Just drive it and quit yer ****in bitching.

That junk is inferior to your 2500HD in almost every way.
