Original OEM battery

I still have my original OEM 20 year old battery working. Still holds charge and usually around 13.6-13.8V. The car only has about 27k miles. I have always left the battery on a battery tender when I don’t drive the car. I am planning to swap in a new battery just for some peace of mind and maintenance.

Is this original OEM battery worth anything?

hardcore, concourse-level type restoration show car folk would surely want this. oem batteries had the little green "eye" on top so you could see the charge level. i forget what color it started to turned when it started losing charge (i am thinking brown or yellow?)

but yeah people buy original date-coded tires, so this is no different. even though the usefulness is gone, it's all about era-correct originality.

not my cup of tea but it's def a thing

A core charge.
They don’t even give core charges these days LOL

I’d say yes, having the original parts with the car makes for a good thing. You’d be surprised what people cared about. Think of his many wipers were thrown away back then? Now people want them.
My exact thoughts. Guess I’ll keep it on the shelf.

keep the oem battery "blanket", too.

that's another thing that usually got tossed out early on and now would be hard to find. all it is is some padded cloth, but it was oem so there's probably a market for it

My original battery is still hanging in there also. Similar to you, 30k miles always on a tender. I don't plan on replacing it until it dies.

I’m currently running an Odyssey PC680, manufacture date of 2016. Tried to sell it here on svtp but everyone said it was too old, not even worth sailing. So far, Soo good and it’s super lightweight. Probably get another when this one craps out.

Interesting, still do here. How do you guys dispose of batteries?
The O'Reilly by me does core charges. I know because the dummy charged me for them while the batteries I was turning in were sitting on the counter right in front of me.
