Okay drove the car home from Seattle to Portland Yesterday, It defintely is a learning cure to shift with this shifter, I got in stop and go traffic in Seattle so I got to do a lot of shifting practice, it takes at least double the effort to shift into each gear and even more to from 2nd to first, I had to pay attention which way to throw the shifter trying to break old habit of the stock shifter pattern, Takes a little longer to shift into reverse or from reverse back into first, since you have to go into neutral first then move the reverse shift lever and then pull the shift lever towards you like you would be going into first and just the opposite to go back in to first, so if in reverse you push the lever up to neurtal and then move the reverse lever towards you and then pull the shifter towards you into first.

So you're very pleased with it? I know little about the sequential shifters but reading your post I can appreciate the learning curve and differences from a stock shifter. Maybe some day you can do a video to show those like me (LOL) how different they are. ;)

Once you get some time with it will be a blast I'm sure! Looking forward to some reviews once you've got the hang of it and are slamming through the gears!

I just found a YT video with an S1 installed in a Skyline. I quickly picked up on the nuances. Doesn't look difficult at to adapt to the sequential pattern.

Now we need one with you making a run through the gears like your racing for 100K.
Kept waiting for it lol.
Can you bump nuetral between gears if you want or do you have to ratchet back down to a certain spot?

Nice video, but yeah, we really want to see some good old speed shifting. You're liking it a lot?

yep it takes quit a bit of effort to shift and even more so to downshift to first.

While I watched your video, I was wondering how difficult it was to downshift.

Couple of things. The shift lever needs to be significantly longer, that will help with the effort it takes to shift.

Secondly, it seems like it goes to neutral between gears. Which would make sense, since it isn't a dogbox transmission.

I absolutely love the sequential in my Viper. It did take some getting used to on the track. For instance going from second to third, you pull back, rather than push forward..so had a couple near incidents pushing it the wrong way. After about 20 minutes or so I was golden with it.

I think you would notice a world of difference with a taller shift level. Like 6-8" taller. Will it look goofy? Maybe. I thought mine did too at first, but it's night and day drivability difference.
