If you're ever in a situation where you don't have the time to clean your car and you want to take it to a meet or car show, throw your numbers back on it. Then it looks like a dedicated car lol.

I have permanent numbers now. Now longer an issue. LOL

Yep. Man are they sticky. I did a test stop from 150 down to 0 in 390 feet and I could tell there was way more left in them. One of my coaches told me to use more brake for shorter periods of time to increase brake life and lower ET. Just need to practice.

I have seen the consumables go up this year compared to last year. One set of pads got me through 6 days, and then the last 2 days, I spent another set. I also used 5 tanks of fuel for the 281 miles. Its weird having over half a tank of fuel and the "low fuel" warning comes on. LOL

I am only on my second set of tires, but I am going to start a collection over the winter. I know its coming. May as well prep.

I take the car to cruise-ins and the occasional car show. I'll end up doing the holes that face the public.

Coach is correct with the braking. Harder on them for less time is less heat and less wear. We built a new race car about a year ago and it's about 100hp more than the last one. We've also gone to a much larger brake setup. Even with the bigger brakes the car uses more pad due to the much higher speeds.

We do endurance racing with AER. So we run 9 hour races. We are currently running a Raybestos racing pad and a set lasts the full 9 hours. We have a home fabricated brake set up. We are running 1967' yes 1967' Mercury 4 piston calipers with a custom fabricated adapter that allows us to run 14" Shelby GT500 rotors under our 17" wheels.

Car is a 1985 Mercury Cougar with 2015 Mustang Coyote running gear.

All fox body suspension and no ABS. I ran a 1:27.9XX at summit last year on the old pavement and with brake issues. One of our drivers crashed the car in turn 1 from the brake problem. We haven't been on track since. Been a frustrating battle figuring out the brake problems. Pretty sure we're all sorted out and are using the NASA weekend for a test session before winter sets in. Then final sorting over the winter and back to racing next year.

It appears they are done in Charlotte for the year unless I dont know what I am doing in looking at your link. The MCA event there in April seems like a bit much and the speed limits seem unusual.

SCCA is finished there until April. The last Track Night in America in "region" this year is at Carolina Motorsport Park: Track Night 2018: Carolinas - October 22

I'll be there!

Hopefully next year I can join you all out there on the track, confidently.

Finally got some 13" cobra brakes on my 94 bird. Now need to get the 4.2 V6 I built in it.

@03'Darin Man... that car is hot! Must have been a blast. I hope you all get it sorted out. I would love to see her in action.

Thanks! We're all about the sleeper look. That car is damn fast for what it is! It's a bone stock 15' Coyote motor so it's putting out about 440 hp with the low restriction exhaust.

We ran another 85' Cougar in Chump Car before this. That car was pulled out of a field when we built it and NEVER did anything to improve the look. In fact our first AER race we were told we couldn't comeback with the car looking like that again. The photographer told us he absolutely loved the car but was told no to take pictures of it. LOL I ran a 1.26.6 with this. It had an Explorer 5.0 pushrod motor with GT40P heads.

Here is some video from Summit in this car.

We've won races all over the place in this car.

If you get to the point where you're looking to do some actual racing check out the rentals available in both Chump Car and AER. AER is a higher level of driver ability, car quality and cash expenditure.

This car scares me and excites me at the same time. I'm so confused.

Pretty much the reaction we get from the competition that we haven't run against before. Believe it or not we have a reputation of being fast but also of being one of the cleanest driving teams to race against.

As mentioned above driver mod is so very important. So each and every coach/instructor that you have help from listen to what they are saying. Learn as much as you can and always be open to thinking outside of the box.

Our team has varying levels of driving experience. When we first started racing together we would see as much as 2 - 4 seconds a lap gap between our fasted driver and our slowest driver. We've been working with the slower guys and are now seeing that gap in the 1 -2 second range. So practice and learn as much as you possibly can

I don't know. I email Clark Hill at Falcon Graphics, Inc. and asked for my numbers to be made in the same font that the Ford Performance Racing School uses.
I did the same, haven't put them on as I was saving them for a 3 day weekend.

Considering what I paid, I'm kicking myself in the ass when I found out I could have ordered magnets for a whopping $20 more. He didn't even tell me the price, just sent me an invoice after.

Damn GT350 tax lol.

Nice job driving, open track is so much fun. I like the 8000 rpm sound, nothing like a screaming V-8. I get to go to Willow Springs the end of the month for two days of open track.

Thanks! Yea, I joined the Driver's Club at Dominion Raceway. I'm going to be spending a lot of time there next season. I'll still hit up some of the other tracks around here, but the ability to just show up and drive 40+ days a year is gonna be pretty awesome.

Not to steal Marc's thunder but I'm genuinely happy with Track addict by HP tuners.

It's free for android and they give out codes at our NASA events for IOS (which is still only like $9 or something for pro).

It does so much more than I ever expected and with the GPS extender it's good enough I can zoom in to see my lines. It also graphs the throttle/braking to show if I'm coasting anywhere and gives a theoretical best lap based on the entire session. Good app.

Good run Marc.

What are you using for track data acquisition?

Thanks! I appreciate it!

I am using a Garmin Virb Ultra 30 camera which captures all of the telemetry data. So I can get accurate speed and RPM, I got a BAFX Products bluetooth OBDII reader, which connects directly to the camera.

That video I posted only took me about 60 seconds to edit and start to export, using the Virb Edit software. It was a great investment.

I just checked that app out. Looks pretty interesting. I may try it out at Summit in November and see how it does. Thanks for the tip
