Nice video. Glad to see you got her out on the track. Watch out, track days get very addictive.

This video may help speed up the learning curve. I also recommend Racers360.com for 1-lap reviews. I wouldn't do it right now. Obviously, Driver Mod is greater than Car Mod. Consider saving your mod money for tires, brakes, and track fees.

Good Book:
Learning a new track by Racers360.

Thanks for the links and the kudos! I appreciate it.

And yes... I am addicted. LoL I bought a Driver's Club membership at Dominion Raceway. I'm figuring a set of brake pads every 4 days. A few sets of tires a year. Lots of fluid changes, etc., plus as other stuff wears.

I am very happy with the car and its performance.

I highly recommend Castrol SRF brake fluid. Pads should last longer than 4 track days. Measure a new pad depth and replace when they hit 55-60% new thickness. The front pads on the 'Maro lasted 8 track days and 4900 miles. I wish I saw more GT350's at the track in my neck of the woods.

I want to make it out Dominion and VIR next Spring/Summer. I'm too busy at Carolina Motorsport Park and Charlotte Motor Speedway. I want to try and win the S1 class at the next SCCA Time Trial in May.

My pads are 9mm when new. I ran Saturday and Sunday on brand new pads... 3.5 hours and about 280 miles and I'm down to 4.5mm.

If you make it to Dominion, let me know. I'll come down and run some laps with you.

Replace the pads before the next track day. 10-4 on the Dominion trip. I also hear that VIR is the $hit. A bunch of ZL1 guys keep asking me to go on Audi club days. I just moved to this part of the country and picked up road racing......lucky me!

I haven't been on VIR, but it is in the cards for next year, for sure. I am putting some ballasts on the passenger side, upgrading to the FP sway bars, vorshlag camber plates, and I am going to run Cup 2's instead of the Pilot Super Sports. Hopefully dialing in the chassis will help me make some better numbers.

I have been to a few events with the Audi guys. Pretty good group. The big thing with me going to VIR is finding the time out of work. I'm 60+ hours a week most weeks.

I have been thinking about getting a ZL1 1LE. Everyone I know who owns a ZL1 loves them. I still have 2 years left before all of my cars are paid off, so I am going to wait a little while so I don't end up ever-extended.

Nice job.

You sure look like you have that turn 10 figured out.

I appreciate it! I'm working on it. I'm really close to perfecting my turn 1 and turn 10. I am trying to work on trail braking into 10. It's pretty intimidating going into those curves at 70 and mashing the go pedal. LoL

Lol Trail braking is nerve wracking at decent speeds.

I ran my wife's fiesta st at one of our local tracks the other weekend. That little car loves to rotate when you are trail braking, youre probably doing 90 mph as you begin the turn.

Video looks great. Congratulations. As mentioned above the driver mod will make the single biggest improvement. Keep track of your lap times now when you are new at this and in a year when you've got a few more under your belt you won't believe how much your lap times improve.

I instructed for a few years and loved teaching new students how to drive. Watching them improve as they learned the proper techniques was the best part of it.

I love Summit Point main. I've been road racing since 1993' and have raced all over the place. Summit main is my favorite track next to WGI long course.

We are doing a test weekend at summit main in early November with our race. Did the event last year and it was a blast.

Figured I'd post this real quick... 281 miles on the pads. Holes in the disc are full of pad material. Gonna be fun cleaning the car up. It's just been in the driveway for the last few days.

Cool. I have not made it out to Summit Point yet, but I just started last year. I have this weekend at Dominion with the Audi club, then 11/1&2 at VIR, then, as you say, it's mod season.

Are those stock pads by chance? If so they will wear much quicker than a track specific pad.
The GT 350 has some serious brakes on it. Being relatively new in this sport you most likely are not any where near maxing those brakes out. So with a good set of track pads you should see quite a bit better brake wear. As you skill and confidence improves you will notice the increase in consumables like tires, brakes and fuel.

I would like to run the Roval next year. What is the best way to get on track there?

I wouldn't worry about the build up inside the wholes unless it bugs you aesthetically. Mine are freaking packed with pad material and it changes nothing.

If you are dead set on doing it though, I did find an iron removing detail spray worked well, completely by accident.

I'm not a brake heavy driver, but the stock pads do go pretty quick. My wife bought me a set of ST43 raybestos to put on my car. Hopefully I'll get some more track life out of them, even with a stickier tire.

Guys on another forum say they are street-able but a little noisy. Even in freezing temps.

Yep. Man are they sticky. I did a test stop from 150 down to 0 in 390 feet and I could tell there was way more left in them. One of my coaches told me to use more brake for shorter periods of time to increase brake life and lower ET. Just need to practice.

I have seen the consumables go up this year compared to last year. One set of pads got me through 6 days, and then the last 2 days, I spent another set. I also used 5 tanks of fuel for the 281 miles. Its weird having over half a tank of fuel and the "low fuel" warning comes on. LOL

I am only on my second set of tires, but I am going to start a collection over the winter. I know its coming. May as well prep.

I take the car to cruise-ins and the occasional car show. I'll end up doing the holes that face the public.

If you're ever in a situation where you don't have the time to clean your car and you want to take it to a meet or car show, throw your numbers back on it. Then it looks like a dedicated car lol.
