I would just drive the car and see what you would like to change/upgrade on the car. How many miles are on the car? Maybe changing all the fluids and a compression/leakdown test. Since you used the word "Frankenstein'd", I'd give the car a good look over (I'm assuming you recently purchased this car). Can you post pics of the engine bay?

This is not a mod but Aeroforce gauges to monitor your car (charge temp, Fuel pump duty cycle, voltages ,and the list goes on) and you can wire in a wideband.

If you are seeing a lot of wheel hop, then you might want to look at a bushing upgrade or better tires.

There are a lot of options for these cars and picking mods can be overwhelming.

The car has 23,000 miles on it. All fluids were changed by the dealer, everything is pretty much in mint condition. The dealer tells me the car was pristine when traded in, and they put all the original parts back on it except for some suspension pieces. Of that, I can't tell what may have been left on, it all looks OEM to me and there is a set of lowering/performance springs that were packed neatly in one of the boxes.

The car is currently 100% OEM in regards to driveline. What I meant by that Frankenstein comment is I can see that the BBK CAI part (as stated earlier, all parts were in boxes and not installed on the car) doesn't have the filter portion. It's almost as if the original owner (this is a 1 owner car) maybe went through more than one CAI before settling on something, and perhaps had married the BBK tube with the Steeda filter/heatshield portion.

I'll post a motor pic shortly.

So I’m going to buy a idler kit soon for my car. I have a Billetflow 2.93, should I get Billetflows 4 piece kit? Ebay has 8% Ebay bucks right now so I was thinking of purchasing that kit unless someone says differently lol

Definitely ditch the stock idlers. Only thing ford did wrong on these cars.

I spent some time on the stickys, reading and researching...I'd like to get a general consensus on what would be considered the top 5 things anyone with one of these should do.

My car is probably going to spend it's time (with me) as a weekend cruiser, car show car, occad that, does a CAI/tune really matter? Would I really feel a difference enough to spend the money on it? Especially if I want to keep the car relatively stock? Should I do the pulley swap?
Hi,
If I were to do this, do I need to upgrade the MAF, fuel pump, heat exchanger or the injectors?

Thank you

in 9 out of 10 cases, no.

if you're on the fence, definitely do it.

pulley/tune is by far the best bang for the buck upgrade for these cars - it is like a night and day difference. highly recommended.

I'm probably number 10 on the 9 out of 10. I have a stock blower with a 2.8 upper and I was really close pegging the MAF. I ended up swapping the MAF out, but I think the stock pumps were up to the task. I swapped them for a pair of GT pumps I already had. I'm still running the stock injectors though.

Billetflow idlers would be a great choice. You can/should keep your Billetflow 2.93 upper; they'll all match nicely.

For the pulley, what is the best size to go with, if I'm not looking to swap out anything else??

I don't agree with that diagram. I was dead set on replacing my k&n fipk with a jlt cold air to avoid high iat2 until I tracked air inlet temps via aero gauge. Iat2 drops to near ambient while car is moving. Save your $ and put a decent k&n on it.

Full length sub frames with matrix brace and jacking rails
Coilovers on all four corners with caster camber plates
MGW short throw shifter with bobs shifter gasket
4.10 gears
Cold air intake and tune

The gears are a matter of personal choice. Frankly I love my 4.10s. And all of my stuff is Maximum Motorsports except for the matrix brace and jacking rails those are custom made

So many people are all about adding power before they can put it to the ground in a meaningful way. Since you do not plan on racing it there is really no need for pulleys and such IMHO. I have kept mine to the basics since it is a blast to drive and impressing others is not on my play list.

I can also attest to the AIT2 temps only going up if the car is stationary or moving slowly. It isn't nearly as bad as Kenne Bell makes it seem in that diagram. Once moving it seems to drop down to a little warmer than ambient air.

I used a K&N FIPK kit with an Amsoil foam filter. It also came with a heat shield that I imagine mitigates the fan wash somewhat.

My car is mostly stock - but here is the list of mods I enjoy the most:
1- Full Length subframe connectors (seriously - this is a must for this car)
2- MGW Shifter
3- Aerospeed dual gauges in SOS pillar pods - mainly to keep an eye on voltage, charge temp, AIT2 temp, and engine coolant temp.
4- Magnaflow Exhaust (stock was way too quiet) I actually still wish it was a bit louder at times.
5- Retorfit headlights
