I am glad I don't need to take off the valve covers fully. I did the passenger side a few years back and it sucked. I know driver is worse. I know I need to be very careful not to let the chain tension slip a tooth when swapping the tensioner if I don't have a cam holding tool in place. Not...
Thanks for the feedback. I am the original owner so I know it has never been changed. And from everything I have read and parts books seems they came with those plastic ones and everyone advises to move back to the metal/ratchet ones. Even the FRPP full timing kit comes with the metal ones.
I want to replace the plastic stock junk timing chain tensioners our 03/04 Cobras got and go to the ford metal ones with ratchets. I have 55k miles on the stock engine and I think I am just starting to hear a small rattle at startup. Thinking the seal in one of them is starting to go (which I...
Thanks for the info. I love it when people take the time to build both a crazy fast and a car show winning car. Both of those engine bays are amazing. I am currently building a teksid forged internal setup for my son's Mach 1, so I have been looking around on getting ideas on how to clean...
Quick question. Are your valve covers and coil covers hydro dipped? If so, does that hold up well over time. Thinking that might last better than powder coating if you need to do maintenance in the area (perhaps not chip, etc). Looks awesome.
Thanks for all the replies. The inventory is insanely low for different vendors. No new ford parts seem to exist. I checked everywhere.
So I ended up going with CarQuest Premium since they offer lifetime and ask more than average $$$ (so just going on a hope it is made a bit better than...
Are the valve covers on 96 - 01 Cobra's the same as 03/04 Cobra? Are they interchangeable.
For example, will the oil cap be the same (screw in the same), pcv attach the same, holes are the same sizes and locations? thanks.
Thanks for all the great replies. Me and my son will do it together as I can see why people say it is best with 2 people.
Question, was the original heater core copper? Or Aluminum.
Thanks.
So I need to replace the heater core after it gave up. Looking into it this is a time consuming nightmare to remove the entire dash, etc. So I want to buy a high end one to lower chances of a repeat anytime soon.
Anyone had good luck with a specific vendor/model. Normally I would go OEM if I...
OK great. The 03/04 Cobra head gaskets with 03/04 Cobra heads will work without modification on a teksid block - And clearly they HOLD ON HIGH BOOST! Great to hear.
Thanks much.
So I should be getting my teksid block ready to go from the machine shop in about 1 - 2 weeks. I have been looking to pick up parts with all the savings going on right now. I want to use fel-pro mls head gaskets for the build. But it is hard to know what will work. There are lots of fel-pro...
For the ABS light, have a look at the recent thread on this. It should have the details you need.
How did you determine it is running rich? Was that on the dyno sheet?
On oil weight, I would not go quite that thick unless you know how your engine tolerances were setup when built. But the...
Yeah, LMR (among others) offers this part - abs delete. Here is the video on removing/adding one if you go this route.
I used this to help do the work for my ABS replacement.
