Guys,
Just wanted to share with you that when I did my clutch swap a few thousand miles back I was on the fence about my Tranny fluid.
I almost went with the Stock Mercon and even thought about Redline. After some research, thanks to SVTperformance, I decided to go with
Pennzoil Synchromesh. The tranny is so much smoother when I'm rowing gears. Can't wait for summertime at the track:rockon:
Good stuff. BTW, I picked it up at Advance Auto Parts...

Did you add any friction modifier?

I have looked at every Advance Auto and can't find it anywhere around me. I was hoping to do this today.

Once I switch out my triax for a MGW, then I'll make the switch.

Found it at AutoZone. Had to go to two different stores since each only had two a piece.

Anyone have a how-to on the oil change? I was thinking of filling it from
the top with the shifter off?

I just changed mine today. Drove around the block a couple times and I think the synchromesh feels alittle better but not the world of difference that some guys are saying it made in their cars. Then again I thought my car shifted pretty smooth to begin with. I just changed it because I was bored this afternoon:shrug:

Let me ask you guys, Have you had any adverse affects from switching to the Syncromesh fluid compared to the ATF ? I called and talked to Ford and they recommend using the ATF fluid only. I called Tremec and talked to them and they DO NOT recommend using anything but Mobil1 synthetic ATF fluid, I mentioned that a lot of Cobra owners are switching to the Pennzoil syncromesh and he stated it would void any warranty on the transmission. I am planning on doing a full clutch swap (PP, clutch, flywheel, fork, cable, ect ect ect) and figure i would swap the fluid. I already ordered a case of the Pennzoil synromesh, I just dont want to damage the transmission by using the wrong fluid.

No issues here over the last few months. Never had a warranty with my car so I just go by my own research. There are many people running synchromesh and I"m glad I changed to this...Subscribing for more details

Same here with no warranty on the car just dont want to mess anything up. I guess I will give it a try, like I said in my last post I have a case on the way to my house now.... Do I need to use any type of friction modifier or just the syncromesh ?

I use just Synchromesh. Interesting though. I do recall many people using synchromesh in other T-56s that are in the corvettes and vipers?
Looking for more input on this matter for your sake...

What I find odd/interesting is that isnt it the basically the same transmission in the vette/viper/cobra? So why the call for different fluid? or is it just different manufacture recommendations? But why would Tremec say to use ATF only?
