damn, so i guess i cant get my ccw where i live(oakland) which is where i would truly need it, but at least i can get it here in San Diego

o well, guess ill have to figure somehting out!

maybe carry it in the trunk unloaded but grab it when im in the OP's situation-stranded in a really bad area

IF you can get it in San Diego, get it and it is good anywhere in CA. The problem is actually getting one. CCW is statewide, it just so happens that some counties don't like to give them out, and others are a lot more willing.

Yeah, I'm not a tough gun-carrying kind of guy like you. :loser:

Dude, I have read some of your posts unfortunately, and YOU sir are a ****ing TOOL. My god, please throw your computer out a window. LOL Calling racist when the OP was stuck in an overwhelmingly black neighborhood? good god
:lol::bored::nonono::kaboom:(my feelings)

You did good keeping your head.....
I still have my commission through the S.O, so I keep my GLK 22 on me at all times. I too will not be a victim. If more people carried guns, and performed like this, thugs like that may look into getting a job and earning their keep like everyone else. Only had to pull my weapon once when I was on duty and can say that it is a rush, but after things calm down you realize how close you were to the edge. SCARY!!! The politicians who want to create all these gun laws have never been in your shoes before. Gun laws protect only the lawless by giving them open season on every law abiding citizen who gives up their weapons. As for me, they're going to have to pry it from my death grip. As for places to keep it: I have a raptor lvl2 that I use when I decide to play po-po, any other time I just keep it between my pants and boxers on my right hip, really don't even notice it's there anymore.

If i was you, i would of been jumped/mugged/killed for sure. Why? because in my liberal ass state we are not allowed to CC. The best i could of done was use a tire iron to defend myself. And if i had a gun, and used it, i'd be in jail even with a license to own it.

I've been in the situation before as well. Group of us went out one night to head into NYC. along the way a ****load of civics pulled up next to us on the highway. my one friend did some friendly pulls and broke so we had to pull off 78 into the newark area (ya, bad news) anyway, 5 minutes go by and the group of civics came rolling through. I seriously thought we were going to get shot. The were waving bats, chains, and tire irons out of the windows as they slowly drove by waiting to see if cops were going to show up before they got out and did something (most likely rob all of us) Anyway, we called the cops and NO ONE CAME because of where we were. thats probably the most scared/helpless ive ever been in my life. and most of us were with our girlfriends at the time.

My thoughts exactly. With the Glocks and XDs able to hold 16+ round clips it's a no brainer which is more logical.

FYI, anyone in Wa. A gun is considered concealed when it is on your person. It can be exposed on you and within sight just as long as you are not brandishing it. If it's in your car it still has to be either on you or separated from the clip and placed in the trunk. I almost got my gun taken away a couple weeks ago for this very thing. Had my gun under the seat and the officer told me I had to have it on me, otherwise it's a violation.

Thank goodness I'm in LA then. Here your vehicle is an extension of your home, meaning you can put it anywhere you want. Concealed only comes into play if it's hidden on your person. We still have laws that allow even non-commissioned or permited to carry openly in a holser on their side all day long. People don't do it, but they could.

if you cant get a CC where you live, just carry anyway and keep it tucked away good. if somebody is gonna rob you or try to kill you i doubt they care about the gun laws there.

great advice, Colombo :dw:

Why not? Why does everybody support the guy who says he is not going out without a fight? But somebody else has to get robbed/jumped/killed because the law says he cannot defend himself?

I am not saying I support carrying a gun illegally, but the way some of you guys talk I am surprised that you do not.

So if something like this had just happened to you, and then you moved to a state where you could not carry, you would just not worry about it? Or what?

I was wondering if we had open carry. I can't carry anyway in BR because I'm so close to campus.

There is but be careful.....There are many restrictions on where you can take it. Can't have it on the grounds of a bar, school (Stupid because if students could carry VA tech might have been resolved earlier) Church, or for the most part within any business. Unless they have detection devices, nobody would ever know you had it on you. Common sense plays a big role. When I was at Northwestern I kept mine in my truck, not on me. All it takes is for someone to see it on you, claim you had it out, they felt threatened and your in a heap of trouble. If your curious about further details about illegal carry and how not to get into trouble check out the LA revised statutes title 14 section 95.
EDIT: I figured you didn't have the book so here is the online option. http://www.legis.state.la.us/lss/tsrssearch.htm

Thanks for the info. I think I'll just keep it in my truck most of the time even when I get my ccw.

CCW's are ideal, i think every person who can qualify for one and is a responsible gun owner should have them just for these reasons. You just never know and preventative measures are better than not. I remember reading this on STLmustangs and commenting when this happened. Matt,(Trueblown) is my best friend and im glad he came along to help you out in that situation.

If 4 guys were trying to rob me possibly kill me. I would haven not hessitated to shoot all of them. Okay in the legs. But I still would have made them squeal. Poor guy that gets a flat there next time.

Glad to hear your ok from this ordeal! The thing that bothers me the most is the police never showed up. I mean what the hell. Was there a report taken over the phone when you called 911 at least? Any follow up call or anything from the local PD?

Moral of story:

Some low life piece of shit punks tried to rob the OP and he sent them running with their tail between their legs.

The "what if this, what if that" responses are pointless, and can go on and on. We are only concerned with what happended, and the end result. If there's any part of this story that should anger you, it's the fact that the cops never showed up. :(
