Ugh, that front end of the GT-R looks so ricey. Import cars have some awesome performance, but always look so cheesey. When are they gonna make some truely badass cars again....like the 3000GT and 300ZX TT

Its Japanese? what did you expect, its supposed to be controversial. Even when the 300z came out, it was an outcast in america yet it was quick a hell. I think its great to have different tastes in appearance and engineering. Competition is good my friend. "so ricey"?? come on!:poke:

I love it how 9/10 Z06 guys can't give an ounce of credit to the Japs for making a well-balanced, freakish performance, all-wheel-drive complex beast to beat the #1 and #2 spots for roadcourse performance. The Japanese wanted to beat the Porsches, walking over the vettes was just a speed bump to get there. I think some deserved respect is due from the vette forums, heck, everyone for that matter.

Wow. And it seems the US version is not limited like the Japanese versions are. Redline limited to 191 MPH. What was Mr. Freddy saying about his "high-speed tracks" again?

last time i checked the 200 mph i hit on gps in my bone stock Ford GT is faster than 191 mph the GTR does :read: my speedo was reading 204 mph :D

"redline limited" is not the same thing as a 'rev limiter' or 'top speed governor' or 'drag limited' or 'gearing limited'. "redline limited" means that the car won't go any faster as it is built from the factory even if you were to eliminate a 'rev limiter' or the 'top speed governor'. "redline limited" is the same for the US car and the non US car. the .27 CD that the Nissan GTR has is awesome but the car simply does not have the power or gearing to go any faster. since the car hits its top speed in 6th gear at redline which is 7,000 rpm's the only way you can make this car go faster even if you turn up the boost to make more power is to lower the 3.70 rear gear or overdive the 6th gear in the transmission more than .80 that it comes with from the factory. sorry but not only is a Ford GT faster but i bet the new ZR1 busts 200 mph as well.

the GTR's gearing is setup to take advantage of short track road courses. on any road course track that has an average speed of 100 mph or more the Nissan GTR is gonna get beat by the Ford GT, the ZR1 and the new viper ACR......

Excuses, excuses. :rollseyes

Are you telling me that in order to average the speeds you were claiming (160, 170 MPH), that the car would have to hit 200 MPH for any significant amount of time? You're still busy stacking away, aren't you? Stack away, my man. Stack away. Speaking if which, you still haven't answered my question on how any of your cars will hold up against the GTR on ANY track, in the snow. Hell, how about rain?

your lack of high speed road racing experience is the problem that is causing you to have no understanding of what i am talking about. go race your car at the bonneville 100 (www.openroadracing.com) like i do and come back and play when you have some real racing experience from which to have a meaningful discussion with me.

unfortunately i won't be able to share anymore of my 15 years worth of road racing experience with you or anybody else in this thread because i won't be posting on this site anymore for the next week as i am leaving Arizona for Texas soon as i will be racing my viper at the www.texasmile.com next weekend. have fun racing on the keyboard while i am racing at the track :rollseyes

Simple question. How do the stock-geared C5 Z06's do at these "high-speed tracks" (which aren't tracks) of yours? I'm assuming pretty poorly, considering their gearing limits them to about 176 MPH. Well?

You're worse than a ricer who keeps searching for an excuse as to why his Civic is better than a Mustang GT. You know, like challenging the GT to a "who gets more MPG challenge" or some crap like that. You DO realize that an 8-speed version of this car will be available, right? Not to mention the performance V-Spec version that's lighter with more power, among other things. What new things to stack it up against it will you come up with then?

Its no point bud. its funny because i know exactly what you're saying and its what i wasted my time on arguing with FF for 3 pages. Maybe when you get some more road racing experience, like going straight for 100 miles, your feeble mind can understand his point lmao. But in the meantime we can chill and hear FF brag some more.

Funny thing is, I think most are hating on it because when people start modding these things (intake/exhaust/boost controller/tunes) they will be eating the z06 vette, gt500, and most cars that are modded like crazy like built 5.0s, etc.

The point is, I don't see why you guys are hating on it so much? Because it's not a cobra? Well, once these things start getting modded they will probably end up eating 90% of the cobras they run into on the streets anyways.

The GTR is so more advanced than the old 03-04 cobras and gt500s that it's not even funny. The things will be beasts once a good aftermarket for them is established.

I can't wait for all the KB cobra owners to whine in road-kill about how a light bolt-on GTR stomped them out at the stoplight.........or make up a story about how they actually beat one lol.

does this video taken from the cockpit of an EX-Winston cup nascar race car look like a road with no turns to you??? >>> http://www.openroadracing.com/curveclip.wmv <<<

you and carrrnuttt keep bashing me and open road racing but the fact is a nascar race car will take HIGH speed turns faster than a Nissan GTR and so will the ford GT and the the new Viper ACR and the ZR1. as you can see from the vid i have posted here that i got from www.openroadracing.com this cars speeds varied between 125-165 mph thru these HIGH speed turns. this car is doing over 200 mph in the straights on this same course as this vid shows as well >>> http://www.openroadracing.com/straightclip.wmv <<<

since this ex-nascar race car is doing over 200 mph in the straights and only 125-165 mph in the turns do you wanna explain to me why he is going so much slower in the turns. the fact is that if he or a Nissan GTR were to try and take these turns at speeds faster than this they would slide off the road and wreck. a bone stock ford GT or the new viper ACR or the new ZR1 will beat the Nissan GTR thru these turns and down the straights too. on tracks such as this or any sanctioned track like Miller Motorsports Park in Utah where the average lap speeds are in excess of 100 mph the Nissan GTR is gonna get beat by a Ford GT, the new Viper ACR and the ZR1 :read:

i wish i could sit here and impart all of my road racing experience to you, but again like i told carrrnuttt i have to get off the internet and start getting ready to race my viper at the www.texasmile.com next weekend so have fun racing on your keyboard while i am at the track racing my viper. all i have done for 4 pages of this thread is defend myself against you and carrrnuttt. i have posted up countless pix and links to websites that illustrate what i am talking about. and now finally i have posted up vids as well. meanwhile all you two guys do is try and assasinate my character even though you two have never done this type of racing yourself. the reality is i do this type of racing and you don't. i have taken turns in my viper ACR and my Ford GT at 165 mph.

so with all of that said when you guys are ready to step up to the plate and buy a Nissan GTR and race me on these tracks and beat my bone stock Ford GT with your bone stock Nissan GTR i will be happy to race you each of you for $1,000. whoever runs the fastest average speed at the Bonneville 100 wins. last year i ran this 101 mile course at an average speed of 145 mph and i am teched to run this course in the 155 mph class if i want too. they will let me run my Ford GT in this class up in the 155 mph class as well. in the 155 mph class the breakout average speed is 165 mph. if you can beat that then you get my money because thats how fast i will be runnin my bone stock ford GT. don't forget to bring your money because i am gonna be taking it from both of you :nono:

fiveo'cobra and carrrnut you two have just been called out :poke: good luck with the keyboard racing on the internet you posers :loser:

comparing the GTR to the ZR1, FGT, ACR is like someone comparing YOU to Michael Schumacher. READ THE TITLE of this thread. You're comparing a 408whp Nissan to 600+ whp domestics and saying "they will beat it in a straight line (couple 140mph turns, but in the end still 90 miles of highway)." Do you see the transparency in that argument? A 5 year old could have told me that. Once again; apples and oranges. The GTR is built to compete with 911 Turbos, not ZR1's, although it still runs with supercars. Put your comparison on ice until the Nismo V-Spec GT-R debues and then you will have a level playing field. You still make no sense.

Yes. I can see why you didn't answer my question regarding C5 Z06's, considering there are quite a few C5's that are doing well in your precious Bonneville 100: http://www.openroadracing.com/html/b07gsu.html

Yep. That's an '01 Z06 that beat YOU in your class [with the Viper]. You know? The aforementioned C5 Z06 whose tranny wouldn't let it go past 176, maybe 178? Wait...did he do a tranny swap?

Can you seriously tell me that ALL these cars are 200 MPH capable? What kind of transmissions are they running?

I was just going to post those numbers since I just got my C&D. That proves two things. One, Road and Track sucks at driving, and two C&D IS the best general intrest magazine for cars out there. I always thought it was funny how people always discredit what a magazine gets for a quarter mile or 0-60 time. There is always someone out there that puts on slicks, or speed shifts the piss out of the car, but personaly, I don't go for the freaking gold every time I race my car, and I think C&D does a pretty good job of representing what the average enthusiast does on the street.

Back to the point, that car is pretty amazing. I still think it will be a flop at that price, but you can't argue that it moves. I can't wait to see one driving around. :burnout:

read all my posts in this thread IDIOT :bash: i never claimed that my modified viper ACR or my bone stock ford GT or the new viper ACR or the ZR1 would beat the Nissan GTR at any of willow springs race tracks or that they would beat the Nissan GTR on any road course with an average speed of 100 mph or less. the reason you don't believe that i ran a 1:34 on willows "main" BIG track in my modified POS $10k datsun 240-Z is because you have apparently no racing experience whatsoever. if you did then you would know that i am not the only one who has ever run that time on that track in a modified Datsun 240-Z :read: therefore i can only assume that you are nothing more than a wannabe. post up your racing credentials, pix and vidz like i have and then come back and play poser......
