You're a younger guy, but you ever seen this?
Or anyone else?

I believe they were called Vert-a-packs and they were used only for the Chevy Vega.

The autos had to have special baffles and such so the fluids didn’t leak out.

A boxcar can hold 130 tons so loading them vertically is more efficient shipping wise.

I’ve never seen one but the old timers used to talk about them.

Not old enough to remember it in person, but did have them as a case study in an engineering class. As mentioned above it was only with the Vega. But due to their vertical orientation while shipping, they ran into a lot of oil starvation issues unloading them and blew quite a few of them up before they refined the process. It was right up there with the unlined aluminum block they used on the early ones.

Also reminds me of another oil starvation issue-

Seeing that thing taking off or flying overhead would be a spectacular site.

I've seen the modified Boeing 747 Dreamlifter that's made to carry the fuselage of the 787 a few times and it's incredible to see. It looks like it's just floating at a stand-still and is absolutely massive. This concept would dwarf that plane.
