Clemson coach Dabo Swinney got trashed for this response to a caller on a show but I thought he put the guy politely in his place. Thoughts?

I'm guessing you were on defense? Linebacker?

Safety. Our base defense was a 4-3 cover 4. So on run plays or screen plays near side I'd roll down to fill the hole. I played at 6'1" 215lb and was pretty stout.

I played QB in high school, but when I got to college we had a guy two years older that was all-conference, all-region, etc...so I didn't want to sit for 3 years. I really enjoyed defense and special teams.

The vaunted 4-3 defense. Still used today. Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry had a lot to do with that.

Yep. We had an old school head coach, he lived and died by it. We had several DEs that were ultra athletic, so it wasn't your typical set.

Funny thing is, I don't miss football a whole lot but I do miss the team side of it and summer/winter/spring workouts. It was a lot of fun!

I hear ya. I wrestled in high school and don't miss getting slammed or tied up into a pretzel but the brothership you make with your teammates is irreplaceable.

As an OSU fan, I hate Dabo. His response was measured, but I don't like him so I say screw him! LOL

How is Texas ahead of Oklahoma when they both are 7-1 and Oklahoma beat them head to head? LOL

You make no sense. The New York Mets made the playoffs last season, then finished last in their division this year. They didn't get an automatic invite to the MLB playoffs because they made it last year, they had to earn it. Whether you think OSU is the best team this year or not doesn't matter, what matters is that they have an incredible SOS and wins over 2 top 15 teams THIS SEASON; something no other undefeated team can claim. UGA was 1-point better than OSU last year, yet no one remembers that. Hell, they did it without most of their offensive stars as well, but no one cares, plus it was last year. OU beat Texas on the field THIS SEASON, it has to count for something. I feel like you are comparing apples to oranges.

I'm not a fan of Dabo but his response was gold and he's right.

These fans are so unrealistic with their expectations. Over 120 FBS-I teams and 10-15 of them compete for a NC year in and year out.

Two NC's in 7 years after a 35 year drought is fantastic. There's a lot of Power 5 schools who have never sniffed a championship, let alone played for one.

There's a reason they're called "fans", it's short for fanatics and most of them are clueless, angry and emotionally out of touch with reality.

Ironically, Dabo is one of the coaches who is against paying players. I wonder if Clemson is behind on their development of foundations for NIL and that is why they are struggling? Maybe roster depth is suffering? IDK, but I'm not shedding a tear over it.
