You're right Matt. I obviously do here, Radio Reference, lurk the F150 EB forum and Smoking Meat forum.
It's funny I'm on a few car forums with plenty of idiots but I couldn't stand any of the bbq forums. I own multiple grills/smokers and have been into it for a long time. The most annoying part are the schills for brands like Rec-Tec.You're right Matt. I obviously do here, Radio Reference, lurk the F150 EB forum and Smoking Meat forum.
What did I do now?
I joined years ago when I got my first pellet grill. I only just read the tips and recipes, and never posted..It's funny I'm on a few car forums with plenty of idiots but I couldn't stand any of the bbq forums. I own multiple grills/smokers and have been into it for a long time. The most annoying part are the schills for brands like Rec-Tec.
Hahahahahaha, I knew what you meant, you monkey butt.Youre as bad at taking compliments as an Applebees bartender
I have to agree with you there brother. That's every forum for as long as I've been on them. SVT isn't any different. I've seen some wildly stupid shit on here but at least there's a basic level of respect amongst everyone that isn't rocking the boat.
I thought some BBQ forums were bad then I joined a few on Fagbook. It's funny I'm on a few car forums with plenty of idiots but I couldn't stand any of the bbq forums. I own multiple grills/smokers and have been into it for a long time. The most annoying part are the schills for brands like Rec-Tec.
Wasn't there a series of car care manuals by Haynes too?I hope i am not dating myself but y’all’s remember Chilton Total Car Care Books? Back in the day you had 4ish popular options, chilton/ forums / magazines/friends / local shop. I feel the vast of wealth and people with 1st hand experience was enormous. Due to having to do it yourself and actually have to read and figure it out.
Then YouTube and social media pop up and now everyone is a ASE cert mechanic, premium tuner, or car expert.
Reality is probable between broke Joe in parents basement & an over zealous backyard tent joe (on the spectrum of car knowledge). Digging deeper into Channels and peoples media links it’s becomes apparent.
You can't easily search Facebook posts, you can go on a forum to search and read threads from 20 years ago.
One bad thing about forums is a lot of the old photos and videos are gone because the sites they were hosted on are no longer up.
Another thing i don't like about Facebook groups is there are so many. On this forum you have a sub-forum for every topic so you can read it all in one place.
And on both you have the same problem of newbies coming in and asking the same dumb shit every other day (has anyone put 315's on their car, how can I lower my car 2", how much HP will I make if...). These days nobody wants to search they just make a post on Reddit asking a question when they could Google that shit in two minutes.
Yes. That bring back memories. How could I have missed that one!Wasn't there a series of car care manuals by Haynes too?
Some have said that the Haynes manuals were easier to understand/follow than the Chilton ones.Yes. That bring back memories. How could I have missed that one!
We actually made an effort to save all those hotlinked pics years ago. We managed to preserve the vast majority of them. That was neither cheap nor easy, but was an investment for the future of the platforms we cover.
Repetitive simple questions drives away knowledgeable members.
