This car was pending sale to me. Thankfully I seen this thread 30 minutes before UPS was scheduled to pick up my check to pay for the car. I was clearly told that this car was never involved in any accident and the paint was all original. From the picture posted above of the damaged hood with the seller clearly in the reflection of the hood that clearly was not the case and the seller was simply not being honest.

Thanks to the members of svtperformance for saving me for over paying for this car. Looks like I am still in the market for a low mileage Sonic Blue Cobra to match my 5,000 mile Sonic Blue Lightning.
@cam.cohen on IG just posted on his story that he is going to be listing his 03 SB sub 11k mile car on classics. Hit him up he always has real clean vehicles!

That's always been his go to for a long time, people are just jealous of his Cobra because its so much nicer than everyone elses. He tried throwing that in my face early on in this post not taking into account that I do not have anything to be jealous of with having my 2022 Bronco, 04 Cobra and 2017 Shelby GT350 with my own house and garage. But yeah I'm totally jealous of someone who lives at home with their dad and parks their cobra in a tent regardless of how nice it is or not.

Brad has stated a couple of times that @Everlasting_Svt will eventually be banned. In the meantime, the thread stays here in Roadside so that the whole world can see it. IMO, it should stay in Roadside, where it can still be seen by non-members. Maybe become a sticky there as a Hall of Shame thread. LOL.

If nothing else, I hope this thread makes future buyers a bit more cautious when buying a car they know nothing or little about. What Josh Smigiel did has surely been done by others. I always tell people to try to find out if the seller is active on Mustang forums, get their forum name, and search threads looking for info good and bad. I remember a few years ago when a guy was selling a Cobra here and stated it had never been in an accident. Unfortunately (for him) he forgot that he had posted a thread awhile back about losing it into a curb and doing considerable damage. He fixed the damage but apparently had the shop not disclose it on his record. He laughed about it when it happened, but wasn't laughing when the buyer was shown the thread here before he closed on the deal. :poop:
That’s a great point. My Cobra has a clean Carfax but the rear quarter panel wheel well has been fixed. Small repair but nevertheless there’s Bondo there. They did a beautiful job on the paint match although the orange peel does not quite match the factory orange peel and that is a “ tell” but you really need to see it in the right light. It got tapped again in the same spot and there’s about a quarter size ding where the Bondo cracked (this happened before I bought it)and that is how I could tell but the documentation doesn’t show it.I don’t mind putting it out here to make a point because if I ever sell the car on this forum I would disclose all of that anyway if I even get it fixed. I suppose a paint meter would be in order for anyone spending a lot of money on one of these cars. Also, as we know, a lot of people put them back to stock after having them sometimes fairly heavily modified. Takes someone who really knows what they’re looking at to be able to see some of that work.
As these cars become more valuable I think it’s going to be more and more common with some of the shenanigans that might be going on by less than scrupulous people. Just my two cents.

I've seen several of these cars already get returned to stock after having a fairly large blowers, exhaust and other shit done to them, and listed as an, "unmolested" car.

I think my buddy did it the best way possible. Picked up a low mile hurt engine 04 SY coupe. He had a stock blower, pulley, and any stock things needed to return to stock. It looked perfect. But he noted it had been rebuilt and returned to stock. I think he was asking mid 30s? Had an aftermarket hood, but otherwise as close to stock as possible.

Being forward goes a long ways.

Being unbiased here, just going to throw some facts. This car has not had paint work. Nor involved in a accident . It had an oops ,his hood flew open one day while cruising, he replaced it with an oem hood that came off a Sonic blue cobra as well. Low mile too from what I remember. Windshield was smashed and replaced with an oem one which to me isn't a big deal. Top of the roof did get dented in a couple spots which were fixed with a PDR - again that wouldn't bother me since you can't tell it ever sustained any damage. I think if the seller would have been open about all this and supplied photos of the car with the new hood and shown it matched perfectly since it was an oem sonic blue hood I think things wouldn't have gotten this out of hand.

Sure. I think SVTp's mob's point is that if he's hiding that, what else is he hiding?

One glaring one is it's never been registered to him at all. If you have a title issue, you'd have to go back to Tyler (the PO) to get any help on it, which is a tremendous risk

I am not expert when it comes to such things, I may even be an odd ball out of this one. However I’d be a little hard pressed to believe that a hood flying up and smashing the windshield and denting the top of the car wouldn’t leave paint chips, or scratching from the hit? I feel like if it had enough force to dent the roof, and break a windshield it would surely leave some sort of nicks, or something no?

Technically he doesn't 'own' the car until he registers it, perhaps he has a bill of sale and a title stating who 'owns' the car.

Was any of that disclosed to buyers? You think those "MINOR" issues are a 60K car? Not the origninal hood. 60k car? No damage? Nothing was fixed? Not orginal windshield? Is the car blue or white???

And this is exactly why a seller should be upfront because the moment something is brought to light he will be viewed as dishonest and will be questioned about what else can be hiding you are completely right about that.

Not necessarily. I’ve seen things hit vehicles pretty darn hard and leave only scuffs that can easily be removed. But all in all he should have disclosed and not try hiding it. I mean there was a video showing the damage floating around. He may never be able to get rid of this car now with the traction this thread is getting.
