Love old school horror with practical effects. I am not a fan of CGI.

The Thing 1982
Amityville horror 1979
Evil dead 1981
Poltergeist

Great recommendations!

obscure, but “Salem’s Lot”
You tube it.

Obscure only to people that listen to Mumble Rap and Bieber.

My daily schedule is more fluid than genders at a California Liberal Arts College.

I like watching the Simpsons House of Horror episodes.
Treehouse of Horror I - XII are solid.

Guess I forgot to put the foglights in.

I enjoy a lot of the old classics- the old Universal movies (including The Black Cat), House of Wax (1930s?), Nosferatu, House of Horrors.

And in the vein of so bad it's good, who can forget the masterpieces that are Hobgoblins and Manos: the Hands of Fate?

EDIT: Young Frankenstein

I would also add The Omen. The graveyard scene with the dogs was terrifying. So was the scene with Miss Blaylock where she got the tuning forks jabbed in her neck.

Event Horizon ****ed me up…
Saw it in the movies when I was like 12 ****ed me up.

Just finished the Eastern State Penn Halloween haunted jail with friends (in Philly for a wedding) was a cool experience. Wouldn't go out of my way but if you're in the area just a cool thing all around. Think it was the first night, kicking off Halloween season.

Not old, but the recent "Malignant" was awesome. It has it all,
Creepy factor, suspense, matrix action.

Wasn't a fan. Don't want ruin the big reveal but it would have better if it wasn't literal. Was okay though.

My wife is a huge horror fan. Specially the "B" movies. I'm not a big fan though myself.

I do like the really campy stupid ones on occasion though.

Example:

Student Bodies (1981) - This movie was making fun of horror movies long before the "Scream" series.

Spookies (1986) - All I can say is.... Farting Mummies!

Of course I enjoy all the Bruce Campbell stuff - Army of Darkness, Evil Dead, etc.

U.M.

There were a lot of horror flicks done in the '50s. Some of the best are....
* The Bad Seed
* The Tingler
* The Thing From Another World
* House On Haunted Hill
* House Of Wax

And from the '60s.
* House Of Usher
* Psycho
* Village Of The Damned
* The Pit And The Pendulum
* The Innocents
* Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?
* The Birds
* The Haunting
* Incubus
* Rosemary's Baby
* Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte
* Invasion Of The Triffids

Most of these would be tagged as "silly" by today's horror movie standards, but back in the day they were scare/horror inducing.

The most recent movie that I watched as an adult that freaked me out was Hereditary! I recommend it this October.
Also: Exorcist, Hellraiser 1-3, Friday the 13th up to part 7 and Incidious.

The Thing ( from another world) one of my all time favorites 1951
It! The terror from beyond space ( Alien is based on this)
The Crawling Eye
