Quick way to know is stars twinkle, planets do notI was walking with my wife 2 nights ago and the sky was clear. There was a bright star a little above the horizon. I came back with my iPhone and loaded up SkyView. I'll be damned it was Jupiter!
Cool tip! Thanks. I'll see if I can see that next time.Quick way to know is stars twinkle, planets do not
Yes I've been tempted to get one myself. Unfortunately there are many large trees around our house so the view is limited. My wife thinks im playing, but im gonna have a dobsonian scope before fall
Ive always wanted a telescope and im gonna have a cool one dammit
I have an iPhone 12 Max Pro, too. Absolutely NO comparison, zoom wise, to the Nikon P1000. Check out this link to see just how powerful the 3000mm zoom is on the P1000. Scroll down a bit just below the video. Start with the slider all the way to the left. You can barely even see the lion. Now slide it right to '3000'. Freaking amazing.Cool tip! Thanks. Here is a photo I took of Jupiter 2 nights ago with my iPhone 12 Max Pro. It made another appearance. I also zoomed in on the moon thinking I would get a nice image but all that appeared was a white blob. The iPhone camera just can't compete with the Nikon 1000 or others. It would be awesome though if one day you could zoom in with a mobile phone to see Jupiter's moons!

That's amazing! The camera body is also not too expensive. There are telephoto lenses available for the iPhone and others. Years ago I had a lens kit for my iPhone 6s Plus. The macro lens was amazing! You could rotate and select between various lenses (macro, micro, fisheye etc.) because the lenses were anchored to the phone case. The lenses slide over the camera lens of the phone.I have an iPhone 12 Max Pro, too. Absolutely NO comparison, zoom wise, to the Nikon P1000.
