I've been thinking about moving on from my car and trying something else out. The problem is the car is modded so it's not an easy sell.
It's held relatively good value if it were stock, and I've gotten some respectable offers using the instant offer on KBB. But none of the dealers want a modded car for obvious reasons.
I listed it on FB marketplace last summer but was inundated with 18 y/o's with no money and big dreams.
I could turn it back to stock and sell the blower and other parts and then sell or trade the car but I would need to source some stock parts, which would roughly cost around a $1000 and besides that it's a big pita.
I could try and trade it as is but anytime I've ever tried to do that I get the worst offers. I can see it now ("I'll trade you my 1998 C5 Vette auto w/90k, only been in one accident and has the rare Greenwood applied wood interior").
Or I could go further. My idea would be swap it to a manual, twin turbo, fuel system, built motor, maybe even a full color change. I always thought the later S197 would look great in Dark Highland Green, or Green Gem.
But that's a $30k+ endeavor and it wouldn't add 1 penny to the value of the car. And at the end of the day I still have a 2014 Mustang GT.
I think I'd rather just move on. Life goes by fast and there are other cars I'd like to experience.
Cars on my short list:
'87+Ferrari Testarossa or gated 360, or gated 550. Maybe even a 599GTB but they are in the far end of my price range still.
2007-2010 Porsche 911 TT manual or PDK (No tiptronic for me)
Porsche 997 GT3
AMG GT roadster
SL63 I know it's an old man's car but I would probably drive it a lot and the wife likes the air scarf and massaging seats. And they respond well to tunes.
C7 Z06
Aston Martin DB9 manual. They're hard to find and I think they are beautiful cars.
The GTR, '20 GT500, & the NSX are thoughts but they don't really grab me, and I think if you're spending that kind of money on a 4th vehicle I think it has to evoke a passion in you.
So where is the best place to sell my current car or should I de-mod it and sell it?
My car is a 2014 GT convertible 6r80. It has a VMP Gen3R, 43k miles. It's a garage queen with all the other stuff cars like mine have wheel 1 pc ds, OPG'S, etc.
The car put down 680whp sae corrected.
The KBB offers have been between $19k and $21k stock, I was thinking it's worth $23-24k as it sits. Do you think that's reasonable?
