I've been thinking about moving on from my car and trying something else out. The problem is the car is modded so it's not an easy sell.
It's held relatively good value if it were stock, and I've gotten some respectable offers using the instant offer on KBB. But none of the dealers want a modded car for obvious reasons.
I listed it on FB marketplace last summer but was inundated with 18 y/o's with no money and big dreams.

I could turn it back to stock and sell the blower and other parts and then sell or trade the car but I would need to source some stock parts, which would roughly cost around a $1000 and besides that it's a big pita.

I could try and trade it as is but anytime I've ever tried to do that I get the worst offers. I can see it now ("I'll trade you my 1998 C5 Vette auto w/90k, only been in one accident and has the rare Greenwood applied wood interior").

Or I could go further. My idea would be swap it to a manual, twin turbo, fuel system, built motor, maybe even a full color change. I always thought the later S197 would look great in Dark Highland Green, or Green Gem.
But that's a $30k+ endeavor and it wouldn't add 1 penny to the value of the car. And at the end of the day I still have a 2014 Mustang GT.

I think I'd rather just move on. Life goes by fast and there are other cars I'd like to experience.
Cars on my short list:
'87+Ferrari Testarossa or gated 360, or gated 550. Maybe even a 599GTB but they are in the far end of my price range still.
2007-2010 Porsche 911 TT manual or PDK (No tiptronic for me)
Porsche 997 GT3
AMG GT roadster
SL63 I know it's an old man's car but I would probably drive it a lot and the wife likes the air scarf and massaging seats. And they respond well to tunes.
C7 Z06
Aston Martin DB9 manual. They're hard to find and I think they are beautiful cars.

The GTR, '20 GT500, & the NSX are thoughts but they don't really grab me, and I think if you're spending that kind of money on a 4th vehicle I think it has to evoke a passion in you.

So where is the best place to sell my current car or should I de-mod it and sell it?
My car is a 2014 GT convertible 6r80. It has a VMP Gen3R, 43k miles. It's a garage queen with all the other stuff cars like mine have wheel 1 pc ds, OPG'S, etc.
The car put down 680whp sae corrected.
The KBB offers have been between $19k and $21k stock, I was thinking it's worth $23-24k as it sits. Do you think that's reasonable?

Pull the blower and put the stock exhaust back on. Dealer shouldn’t care at that point about the suspension and wheels.

This is the way.

Forget the SL63-thats the weak link on that badass list of cars you're choosing from.

The truth is ANY sled you choose from that list is going to be a massive upgrade from the GT you own.

You’d have no issue as it’s sits 23-24 least in my area. That’s the going price of 13/14 GT vets under 50k with minor bolt-On mods not to mention a blower. Least what I’ve seen on lots/ private party. If you don’t remove the blower I’d say it’s worth a couple extra grand... to the right person. Dealership, are gonna low-ball you.

what do you like about your car that you want to retain vs what does it lack that you'd like to obtain?

you can experience a car on a weekend, owning a car is another matter entirely.

i've driven and worked on all sorts of cars and my favorite of all time is the 911, pretty much any year.

they're reliable, sexy, easy to drive, easy to live with, and that means you can drive it all the time.

also, you can pick up a used R8 V8 for surprisingly cheap these days.

if i were to replace the cobra right now i'd probably end up in porsche land.

The SL63 is the perfect car for me......................in 10 years from now. They are nice cars in every measure but I don't want to go from Mustang to SL and skip the Vette/911 phase. Though it is the most practical of the bunch.

I like the fact that it scares the shit out of everyone I take for a ride. It is vulgar, quick and violent. I still think it's a great looking car.

What I don't like is, it smells (no cats), it's loud, it is the same car I had for 5 years.

That's my wife's choice, she's always wanted a Vette, but I could pull up in Colbat SS and tell her it's a Corvette and she'd be happy and couldn't tell the difference.

The Ferrari's are a lot to maintain but most of the work can be done by myself. It's the parts that'll kill you but I'm only driving it on occasion.

Opinion, but...A grand touring Ferrari with a naturally aspirated 12 up front and real manual gearbox is destined to be very collectible in time.

My man you have classy taste! I met a Ferrari owner at a track day once who told me to budget 10% of the purchase price of a Ferrari on annual maintenance. That really turned me off.

The C7Z seems slightly different than the rest on the list. Interested in hearing your reasons on that vs. others?

Have you been browsing the Dupont Registry?

I agree with the advice to pull of SC and trade car in. Good luck and enjoy the journey!

a ferrari won't give you that "OMGHOLYSHITTHISISFAST" though.
I know but it isn't about speed. A V6 Camry will probably run down a Testarossa. But the sound of that flat 12 and the feel of that gated shifter offers a completely different experience.

I definitely think they are at their bottom. I wouldn't consider it an investment by any means but it certainly won't halve in value like a DB11 will in 3-5 years.

Thanks, I'm well aware of the cost of the annuals on the Ferrari's and I have a great independent shop right down the road for the big stuff. As for the C7Z I love the way it looks from 3 sides. The performance is excellent and for $70-80k you can't beat it.

alright, 360. gated shifter. they're not super durable, though, so buyer beware.

if you wanna go totally insane get a 355 which is the best ferrari with terrible maintenance requirements :D

if it were me i'd spend a little more on an F430 that could take more abuse.

If you have to sell the Mustang to afford an old ass Ferrari... Then you can't afford a Ferrari.

I don't remember saying I had to but it makes no sense letting sit in the garage undriven. And hey do you know what $20k buys you on a "old ass" Testarossa? That like a differential and a Capristo exhaust .
Listen to this old ass slow Ferrari. Gives me a boner. But thanks for the financial advice anyway.

I was born 1974 so I was just coming aware of cars in 1984 when it was released. It was the poster car of my youth. I love the way it is low and wide, it really has presence. Also it is the last of the Flat-12's that date back to the Lauda era. It's also one of the last bold Ferrari's. A true Pininfarina masterpiece. It and the DB9 are a car that can be enjoyed looking at as well as driving.

See what I've read is the F430 is more trouble than the 360, but to honest anything Italian and of that vintage is going to be some trouble. And gated F430's are out of my price range. If I went with a F430 it would have to be an F1 trans and for what a F430 goes for a 599GTB isn't that much more and to me a 599 is a hell of a lot more car, just the Enzo V12 alone is worth it to me. And I am in the very small minority that doesn't like the F355.

timing chain vs timing belt is the kicker here.
