It's $8k for a dressed long block, not a compete engine with accessories. The 7.3 is a complete engine for $7k, not a long block.
What if I told you that a cam swap will net close to triple digits on a 7.3L?

Not saying it's a bad engine.7.3 also makes way more power out of the gate at 7k than the 6.0 does.
Its amazing how people beg Ford for an affordable big V8 and when they make it, those same folks complain about it.
So a "complete" 6.0 is $3k less.That's considered a complete engine.

I will admit, I get a giggle at FoMoCo touting the "In-block cam reduces engine height and width" like it's some new fangled thing.Won't hear me complaining! I've been a fan of this engine since day one!
There's nothing not to like about it.

Not saying it's a bad engine.
Just saying the crate price tag hasn't broken any records and isn't shockingly cheap. It's Inline with almost any basic bitch engine.
Tuned and running 11 in a full drag car.. Meh.
A fully built, machined, ported, custom pistons and rods, cam.. Basically $30k+ max effort build doing 780hp on an engine stand? Meh.
As for swaps and used, we'll have to see.
Gen3 Hemis are great engines but have found zero love in the swap world even now that a 5.7 is a few hundred bucks.
I do remember all the hype around the Ford 6.2 at launch and that engine just crashed and burned.
So, we'll see how much this engine picks up in the aftermarket. Who knows, maybe there's one destined for my Cobra.

You get your cheap ass 5.7 at the same place you get your cheap ass 5.3/4.8 and with some luck 6.0...Where do you get your info? Hemi a few hundred bucks? Maybe for one with demolished insides after normal every day use. The Hemis are some of the most expensive and hard to get a hold engines on the used market. We're talking $2500+ for an engine that will have approximately 100k miles on it for that cost. The reason they are so expensive and hard to get a hold of is because so many of them break and so the market is huge for used ones and there just aren't any. You almost have to go reman which a lot of customers can't afford. If you're paying a couple hundred for a Hemi then you don't know what you are getting and you certainly don't have a warranty which I would be very wary of with those engines.
$6600 is a pretty good deal.Maybe different pricing through Ford Performance, but if you buy from the dealer this is the pricing.

Local Pick and Pull. I see them all the time. $300-500 depending on yard and with or with accessories.
Stop conflating fleet service, consumer repairs and "enthusiast engine swaps and builds".
What are you arguing? The pricing I pull is the realistic pricing and standard pricing that everyone is going to see on average for a decent engine. Your pick n pull prices are going to vary widely and for $500 I guarantee you are buying junk. I just looked on car-parts.com for Hemi engines to see what all the local yards have and there was just one listed for the model year I tried... and it was for $500... but it was for a core... meaning it was a non-running junk engine.
These are the Hemis from local yards and their pricing which is the same pricing if you walked in to purchase it. Note how the pricing doesn't vary much regardless of the age and mileage of the engine. Bottom line, these motors are expensive.
