So, here is the conundrum with this GT350. This 2020 GT350 arrived at the dealer yesterday and it is essentially equipped exactly the way I want. In Canada, there were a very limited number of allocations for 2020, even for the non-Rs. The price on this GT350 is excellent, however, when the dealership inspected the car, they brought to my attention the damage on the front bumper. See the below photos.
I have a bodyshop that I use that does amazing work(authorized Ferrari, Porsche and Tesla bodyshop) and I know the owner and have used them in the past. They said the bumper needs to be replaced along with the stripes. It is a brand new car after all. The estimated repair cost is around $2k with parts, paint and labour.
Here is what the dealership offered me:
Option A) The dealership will submit a claim through Ford for the repair but they warned that Ford might not approve a new bumper and would just do a blow-in. The dealer said they can have the work done at a body shop of my choice. I don't need to buy the car for them to do this.
Option B) I purchase the car as-is(still brand new obviously) and he can deduct the cost of the body shop repair from the price of the car(already at invoice) and I handle the repair. The repair would be expedited much quicker this way.
What would you do in this situation? I checked dealerconnection, and there are zero GT350s in Kona blue in Canada and nothing incoming.
