So, here is the conundrum with this GT350. This 2020 GT350 arrived at the dealer yesterday and it is essentially equipped exactly the way I want. In Canada, there were a very limited number of allocations for 2020, even for the non-Rs. The price on this GT350 is excellent, however, when the dealership inspected the car, they brought to my attention the damage on the front bumper. See the below photos.

I have a bodyshop that I use that does amazing work(authorized Ferrari, Porsche and Tesla bodyshop) and I know the owner and have used them in the past. They said the bumper needs to be replaced along with the stripes. It is a brand new car after all. The estimated repair cost is around $2k with parts, paint and labour.

Here is what the dealership offered me:

Option A) The dealership will submit a claim through Ford for the repair but they warned that Ford might not approve a new bumper and would just do a blow-in. The dealer said they can have the work done at a body shop of my choice. I don't need to buy the car for them to do this.

Option B) I purchase the car as-is(still brand new obviously) and he can deduct the cost of the body shop repair from the price of the car(already at invoice) and I handle the repair. The repair would be expedited much quicker this way.

What would you do in this situation? I checked dealerconnection, and there are zero GT350s in Kona blue in Canada and nothing incoming.

Option B sounds pretty good to me.

If there's no other car optioned the way you want and nothing on the way, it may be the best way to make lemonade out of the lemons here.

Good luck with your choice.

Bitchin color combo too.

Option B. If it was anything more than a bumper cover I would walk away.

Will the repair show up on a vehicle history report?

If so, run, unless they are going to cut the price to account for the depreciated value in addition to the repair.

no since it’s not going thru insurance.

dealer is knocking the cost of the repair off the selling price, customer pays cash to have repairs done.

Option C, get one in velocity blue. Jk, B looks like the way to go. Then take it to your body shop guys and let them work their magic.

Lol why...? Its a pretty small scratch, pop that shit back in place like the one pic and gap miatas all day long on the track!

Just had a nightmare with a F250 I bought back in 1995 with a similar issue. The back and forth with the dealer and body shop wasn’t worth it. I felt like I lived at the dealership for the first month I had the truck. You’re right it not that bad. There’s just plenty of stupid out there and people not knowing how to fix or do thing right the first time. I like the color it will pop in the sun.

There are GT350s with below 5k miles online now for 45 and you could probably get cheaper. If it a year before they offered the track pack and technology together, get a track pack and you can easily put a sync 3 8 inch touch screen in if you want it that bad...assume all GT350s are toys and not DD.

Terrible decision to buy a new one. The ONLY benefit of 2020, is the engine got a few minor updates /shared with the gt500.

B! But how is the repair cost deduction figured? Do you provide your body-shop quote and they deduct that from the invoice? Or does the dealer deduct what their shop would charge/cost? If it's the latter, you could end up out of pocket when all is said and done if you do use your own shop.
