Finally a police officer was punished. Look I get and respect police officers they have a hard job but not all are good apples. Some think they'll above it and rarely get punished for they're crime's cause they so many other times. Let me tell you a story and this just happened yesterday. I was driving home from work yesterday and was talking to one of friends on my bluetooth in my truck. I had my palm against my face leaning a little cause I was tired. When a police officer passed me going the other direction and I clearly saw her on her phone talking. Then I see her turn on her lights and make a u turn. I thought she got a emergency call but nope she was pulling me over. When she came to my window I asked why I got pulled over she said for being on my phone since we have a hands free law. I laughed and said yeah right I told her I'll show you I wasn't and pointed to my dashcam. I told her it's a two view camera and it'll show what I was doing at the time and I also said it'll show when you passed me you we're on your phone too. She gave me this crazy look and just walked to her crusier turned off her lights and left. Moral of the story is cops are human too and just like humans we tend to lie and abuse power.
I personally would have not stopped you. Unless I am certain someone is breaking the law and I can see it and can accurately testify on it, I don’t make a stop. I don’t like to assume when it comes to making a decision that may negatively effect someone’s life potentially forever.
Also, what a lot of people don’t realize is, police officers while on duty, are legally allowed to be on their phones, not wear their seatbelts, etc. as long as it’s done within the course of their duties. Now each department has their own policy on that, so that’s another story, but if we are talking about the laws, officers on duty can do pretty much everything a civilian can’t. The key is, as long is they are within the course of their duties.
