Just came from dyno with questions about my A/F ratio

someone from HP chimed in in another tuning thread when I asked if there was ever going to be a platform for our cars and they just came out with it. The mpvi2 and the vcm suite apparently are completely compatible with our ecu. My ultimate goal is to start tuning on the side on different vehicles so I want something that's pretty much universal

With HP you can buy credits for each car you tune right? A few years ago I was looking at getting into tuning on the side and I think it was $2500 to be able to do all Mustangs. I decided I had enough of a headache with my own car and didn't want to deal with other people's cars. Although I do help friends if they get into tuning.

Yes, you have to buy credits for everything which is how they get you. So if you're trying to tune a car and you want to tune the trans also, you have to buy separate credits for the ecu and the trans itself.

I'm pretty sure if you're going to register as a tuner you pay a large premium price to have unlimited credits obviously

I just found an old dyno sheet with the stock MAF Xfer function. This is with a 2.76 pulley and 18 degrees of timing.

It looks like the stock MAF Xfer can handle it since it held on in the mid 11’s throughout the run with a 2.76 pulley. I’m gonna put it back for my 3.1 and try 21 degrees of timing.

Let me ask you guys a question. See the two dyno sheet? The first post has one with a 3.1 pulley and it has 403RWHP and 433RWTQ. The post above has a 2.76 pulley and has 406RWHP and 460RWTQ. Is there something wrong with the dyno? How could the car have so much torque but low power?

FYI The scanning software in the HP suite is not yet fully operational for the Cobra ECU. They are working on it. Some people are doing their logging with SCT or an nGauge, and editing and programming using the HP MPVI2.

No doubt if you have an OEM airbox/intake still.

I emailed the tuner and he said the same thing. It looks like I hit the limit of the stock airbox since the 2.76 gave me 406 and the 3.1 gave me 403. He said the 2.75 should have had me around 450 and the 3.1 should have given me 425.

I had a question about the torque and the tuner said I hit peak torque at a lower RPM so it won’t run out of breath like HP which is hit at a higher RPM.

Good God I hope you dont have the air silencer still attached. That is the issue if so.

Yeah, I still have it set up like the factory. Stock airbox, paper filter and silencer. I’m worried about sucking in hot engine air with a K&N FIPK and the JLT RAI so I stuck with the stock set up since it is shielded and it has a tube pulling in air from the hole in the fender well.

Bone stock, my car picked up 16rwhp from pulling the silencer and doing nothing else. Definitely a restriction. Stock airbox isnt a restriction. The silencer is.

Damn, that’s a lot for stock. I’m gonna try it out on the dyno and see what happens.

I just can’t believe that the stock set up can suck away that much power.

We did a pull, pulled the silencer, then did a pull. The opening on the silencer just isnt big enough to get enough air to the blower. Even with a stock pulley.
I ran even with a friend of mine when it was still completely stock. Put a catback on it and pulled the silencer. Beat him by 2-3 cars then. Verified that combo on the dyno as well. Made an extra 35 wheel over bone stock with the catback and silencer removed. The stock tune was WAY rich up top too. AFR was like 10.4:1. Definitely would have been a little higher rwhp number leaning it out some.

Thanks. What I need to do is get back to the dyno and pull off the filter box and see what the numbers are. I should have done that with one of the pulls but I wasn't thinking about that.

are you currently using it and having trouble also? I haven't heard anyone with this issue yet.

Odd I havent heard of anyone not have issues yet.

Best bet is realtime tuning no point in doing that old slow flash and log method when you can simply make changes while the engine is running. Realtime tuning is significantly better and for those older ecus it just doesnt make sense not to.

All you need is a moates quarterhorse $250 the tuning software is free.
